    How much isn’t getting planted

Nothing in the way of any spring cereals drilled in cornwall by the look of it, I reckon It’ll be may before I can, winter veg ground destined for drilling is like a swamp. There‘s going to be a serious shortage of summer and winter veg and potatoes too. some big spud growers down here that...

    Massey Ferguson 8s

Ive demoed a dyna 7 and a vt, definitely go for a vt ,I’m biased as I’m on my 4th MF dyna vt. The 8s is a big lump which I was unsure of, but now having tried it I’d jump at one, actually missed out on a very good deal on an 8s 265 by 1hr so bought the 7726 traded In. Probably go for a 285/305...

How much do agricultural machinery sales people get paid

I’d agree with you Joseph, I’m very good friends with my main dealer salesman, he’s the go to if I have an issue, I’ve bought a lot of tractors from him and he knows if I’m not happy and sorts it out, yes he’s scared to lose sales and keeps me on side but I’d rather that than have to chase...

    Waxoiling a new fert spreader?

Evening all. I’ve got a new fert Spreader on the way, is it worth waxoilng it before I use it? We wash them off after we’ve used it but you can never get them spotlessly clean I find. Would the fert stick to the wax oil? Or should I spray it 50/50 with diesel and hydraulic oil on a regular basis...

    Front mounted ripper

Maybe, I’ve thought about running the trio on the ploughing rather than rip/Ph but not sure I’d get the tilth required, our system works well and I’ve good wheel eradicators on ph. In our opinion the rolled ploughing needs ripping to get some air in the soil, and it only then needs 1 pass with...

How to stop the give away veg.

This makes my blood boil. We grow winter cauli and get about 50p/head from the supermarkets, which is just enough to tempt to grow the following year. The packhouse we supply have had to buy lorry loads of French to fulfill orders due to all of the Cornish cauli running late because of the wet...

    Air compressor?

Depends on your budget but we’ve just bought a 150lt Jefferson, seems a good buy at £508+ vat. It came with 3 outlets and is surprisingly quiet,I’m told that it’s better than the Clarke compressor.

    Lantra Telehandler course right/wrong answer

The instructor gave the example. 44 ton lorry of grain gross weight Tips and tares at 14 tons =30 tons net . Which I get, my argument as it’s a course about telehandlers and capacity of the machine etc. I grade spuds. 25kg bags x 40 = 1000kg of spuds, add the pallet(say 50kg) 26 pallets on a...

The Death of Red Tractor is coming..... ???

    New toy day

New 6s.180 delivered last week. Pokey little bus but the seat must’ve been put in by an Oompa Loompa as I’m right up on the steering wheel, I’ll get it moved back a hole or two I think. New armrest like the 8s is nice and would make my 7726s one hell of a tractor if I could put one in it.

    Datatronic 5 - data lost

Lost I’m afraid, had it a few times on a 7719s. It’s a right pain in the backside if you’ve 10 different machines saved, fingers crossed it’s sorted now as we’ve had 2 new screens

    Harvest 2023

August 14th last year I’d finished harvest ( admittedly early for us) August 14th 2023 still have winter barley to cut before I think about spring crops and the combine hasn’t moved for a week, I don’t think I’ve used it for more than 2 consecutive days!
