That's the thing but the thought of another abortion storm is terrifying. The cost of the abortion vaccine spread over a ewes lifetime is not a great sum. We currently use Bravoxin, Enzo and Toxo., dabbled a bit with footvax but not using it now. It's just a matter of how you feel about the...

When we had it twice we had 30% aborted or had weak lambs that died. Year after no sign at all. We have a bit about this year but not too many. Will be looking to vaccinate next year.

I would agree. We only started lambing outside about 10 years ago and could not really remember a real bad night until last year when we had a couple of wet nights. This year has been awful, mainly due here to the fact the ground was waterlogged before we started. If this was to become the new...

    Planning uplift

Whilst I don't agree with the proposal I am surprised it has not been suggested before and it would not surprise me if it happened. Many would see this to be in the best interests of the general public rather than a few wealthy landowners benefitting. Whilst on a different level they capped...

Confessions of the Sheep/Beef Cattle/Pig Addicts

Just about sums it up. With abortion the thought of another big storm is terrifying. Don't think we could cope with it now. When we got Enzo there was a vaccine, Cevavac i seem to recall, that you could do late in pregnancy which we did and avoided a storm. Toxo revealed itself in a bad scan...

Confessions of the Sheep/Beef Cattle/Pig Addicts

We had it 36 years ago and a third aborted out of the 200 we had. Next saw it 10 years ago when a third aborted out of 1 batch of 200. Rest of flock was fine. This year we have had 9 abort and diagnosed as Campy. We will be vaccinating this year as the cost of the vaccine is negligible compared...

If ours is Campy I will Consider we have got off lightly as this was in a batch of 450. Had it twice before and lost a third. Will be vaccinating next year I think.

We had about 8 ewes abort from the group which started on 1st April. Took some to Ben for pm and he said most likely Campylobacter. He sent them away for testing to confirm and we await the results. He ruled out Enzo and Toxo which we vaccinate for. There is a vaccine for Campy.

Being mild is all that has saved a disaster here last night. Debated going out through night, decided not to. Brought 4 ewes and lambs in this morning, 2 needed glucose injections, rest fine. If it had been cold it would have been carnage.

    f**k Up Fortnight

First time for years we are getting some watery mouth. Lambing outside but bringing weak ones in. Struggle to keep pens dry as ewes so wet when they come in which makes perfect home for bugs to. Dreading going round this morning but was not too bad. 2 brought in for glucose injection and heat...

Another night of torrential rain forecast for tonight. Last year was a wet lambing but our fields were a lot drier now at the start of lambing. Quad broke down last year and we went round ewes on tractor without leaving a mark. Would not get through gateway with tractor at the moment. If this...

    Unregistered land

Solicitors duties depends on their retainer. Most that I know exclude tax advice and will refer client to accountant. There is no general statutory duty for a solicitor to make sure CGT is paid unless they agree this with the client.

It depends on how they owned it. If they were joint tenants then on the first death it passes directly to the other Co-owner. If tenants in common the land passes in accordance with your father's will. You need to see the unregistered deeds. If tenants in common then If not specifically...
