    Lift Arm Length

Do you think DB 1200 arms which are 1metre long would be okay? That would push the back about 7 inches or does the further you get away from the tractor create more problems? I seem to remember a picture of Graeme Witty ploughing, and it looked like he had lengthened his arms on a Ford.

    Lift Arm Length

I use an International 574 for my ploughing, the lift arms are 750mms long and when I push the plough as far right as possible the front disc arm fouls the lift arm. I have been told to use longer arms to overcome the problem would this be the best solution or would it be better to lengthen the...

    Are Ploughing Matches Under Threat?

As I said back in 2018 matches may be under threat. It now seems that he powers that be will pay up to £50 a hectare for non I inversion tillage. So apart from root crop areas where more ploughing takes place, will match sites be harder to come by?

    State of your crops?

Pleased to hear that. Ours was late drilled end of Nov early Dec so was probably at a vulnerable stage when we had some heavy rainfall. Apart from a bit of ear disease it has looked good all the way through, not had any particular septoria problems. We have got it pencilled in for next year...

    Autumn manure banned

How can any one justify putting sludge to land fill, when we are supposed to be farming more sustainably? Let alone the environmental problems with leaching etc. A far better use would be to line up the rule makers and politicians and coat them liberally with it!

    Biostimulant Seed Treatments

I have been told that applying elemental sulphur will lower the ph and thus make locked up phosphate more readily available and also negate the need to apply any sulphur based nitrogen fertilisers.

    State of your crops?

Yes leaves are pretty clean, it's the ears where the problem is, I am estimating up to 15% of grain sites affected. Had a robust 4 spray fungicide programme, I thought the timing was pretty good. Obviously not spot on,or there is an ear disease weakness. Skyscraper with the same regime has only...

Have any of you guys with Saki noticed a lot of ear disease? Looked at ours today and what looked very promising a fortnight ago, has now had the gloss removed.
