Hi Pete how did you manage infrastructure water with 500 cells? Also were the cells accessible from a laneway, or did you have to drive/walk through other cells to reach stock daily?
I was paying €40 plus vat 5 years ago. However his work was extremely high quality and precise, and very quick. You'd tell him what you wanted and he was able to suggest improvements to make stuff better.
Seemed very expensive, but actually worked out cheaper than lads working for half that rate.
I would say it's not just about being "nice", but consistency. Nothing worse than having to deal with a moody boss. Also competency: in my opinion worth taking less money to work for someone who is top 10% performance wise, particularly at start of your career.
Shed looks good.
Turning in from 15 foot passage is doable, but would be a lot easier if the storage bay was made 20 foot wide. You'd always use the extra storage.
The pitch on the roof looks like it could do with being a bit steeper, ideally 17 degrees for the stack effect. Also there should...
Don't get put off by the high hours. Where I work there is an L90 with approx 29,000 hours. Runs perfectly, doesn't give any bother and still does 5-600 hours per year. Would be rare to see a teleporter with those hours.
Sold a horse to Germany. It took about 3 weeks to fully clear, even though the money showed in the account after a couple of days. A bit ridiculous really. This was about 20 years ago so things may have changed.
If staples get wet for a while before they're driven, they get white rust very quickly, which then rusts in a year or 2. This is because the tips of staples are not galvanized. Had to throw out a bucket a year ago, where rain got into them.
No, it was originally about biosecurity. The original herds houses in towers were only the high health nucleus herd. A central air filtration system was installed in these units, to prevent any disease or viruses entering. To prevent the breeding stock getting wiped out in a disease outbreak...
Higher air fares and a weak sterling will like discourage foreign holidays. A lot of Air BNBs run with family labour, electric/heating a smallish percentage of revenue. It may not be at the same heights as the COVID staycation era though.
Every recession usually leads to a bit of a shake out of...
It makes a massive difference whether their shorn or not, also how close to lambing, number of lambs scanned. As a rule of thumb they need to be able to fit into half the area, then they'll all be able to comfortably lie down. So long as there's enough feed space they're very contented - That is...
How clean they stay depends what you're feeding. With precision chop, should stay spotless, with hay they need brushing/raking daily to stop them clogging. They clog less easily than expanded metal though. Assuming no feed is dragged in, the slats stay cleaner the higher the stocking density, so...
That depends on the chip used. Sheep Ireland was using a 5k or 10k chip about 10 years ago and quite frankly it was quite useless. Think it is 50k they use now now and 100%.
It's my understanding that it also matters how the chip is designed so with the 50k chip you are looking at 50000...
You don't need a grid, just 5 rows by 72 foot of steel running parallel, because the fibre glass supports are only 8 foot long.
I would advise against using steel beams a slurry environment can be very corrosive, concrete would be much better.
All the tanks I have done the pillars have been...
