We Have two Pellcroft Drying floors. Absolutely brilliant. We have biomass linked to the heat exchanger and fans. Pellcroft floor is the only drying floor in my opinion that you can clean properly. Very helpful firm, we had to order through TH White who where also excellent. Helped no end with...
I don't think we can think for our selves!!!
Joking aside everyone on here seams to hammer NFU, but when you are involved you realise the great work it does, nothing is always perfect.
The issue is times are changing and there are a minority in the union stopping it move with the times.
Vote...
I'd say knowing the three very well, that they'd get on great! I also know the three wouldn't tow the line!! All three would have certain skills sets that would work for the NFU! The problem is the voting system at NFU means it will be incredibly hard for them to do it! If they where all from...
I'm swaying towards sprinter due to the larger range of points.
We tend to drill early, 20th Sept and aim to be finished by 14th Oct most years due to our high rainfall. This year has been very kind!
Run a Rapid following a carrier for years and it works very well. But with an increasing...
Currently considering a 6m sprinter on dutch/metcalf etc, but also giving consideration to Sabre tine (new type 4 row prob front tank).
Anybody run both?
Would be used either as direct drill or on very lightly cultivated ground?
Sprinter would need full width packer for depth.
Please pass this on to the NFU Crops team via Call first. Everyone seems to bash NFU on here, but they will help you with this. I know they would be keen to hear about this even if you aren't a member.
@Mc115reed I'm not complaining am asking for advice. I've bought a Claydon, at my disposal at present is a carrier but I feel it's working to much soil, but I don't want to go direct into rape stubble due to slug risk. I Don't want to buy a straw rake if it won't do the job, so I've asked for...
Yes, don't want to stop rolling we would have to for stones no matter what drill?
The only problem with carrier is we can end up with a prepared seed bed that gets wet. I could do with just moving slightly less soil than the carrier does. Just trying to find out really what other people who...
Previously we ran carrier straight after combine and then again 24hrs before rapid. Then roll. Not used slug pellets since 2012. Where I am at is I'm not gaining by using the clayton if I do exactly the same as we've done previously, but use a slower, harder to pull drill!! So, going forward...
I just don’t like idea of a blanket application of pellets?? Seems like one step on two back if we have to start pelleting again!!
Do straw rakes actually work?
First year with Claydon. Currently running carrier shallow ahead of drill to disturb slugs. This what we do with Rapid also, feels like spent a lot on a drill for no big advantage!!
how do people control slugs in this scenario? I don’t want to start blanket applying pellets priori to drilling...
