Just wondered with declining numbers of milk producers..... I'm spending a week in Suffolk, and haven't seen any cattle, let alone a dairy cow. Any herds in this part of the UK?
We all need them, we all want them to work for us. Huge amount of choice for anyone looking for a job with stock or land work.
So what works for you - money is not a motivator. Joss Haynes, HAAC, 1980's.
Please share your success stories, as majority of us are very poor man managers😉
I buy doorstep milk - my roundsman has recently changed his supplier, and I'm having difficulty finding where this milk is sourced and processed.
Can anyone help?
On the foil cap it does have UKHO 010 EC - but no processing site, just Milk & More.
Cricket ODI NZ vs England from Bay Oval in NZ, today......did you see all the advertising for your Wensleydale cheese on the digi-boards surrounding the ground? Very impressive! Well done!
On farm today - and still calling a 2nd calver, a heifer.
Conversation was very confusing..............our definitions of a "heifer" were totally different!
In my terms, as soon as a heifer has calved/1st calf, she becomes a cow.
How about you?
I've some money to spend and thinking of buying some shares in DC.
Reasonable growth over last few years - have they peaked?
Good investment or not?

I know this happened over a week ago, but once again, several milk suppliers in the north-east are facing uncertain times. Fortunately there are still several milk buyers in the area - Arla...
......has anyone got any? Any pictures?
Slogging it out on the cross trainer today, and listening to Tom Kerridge talking about Double and Single Gloucester cheese. One of my favourites for cooking with!
I've never seen any Gloucester cattle, or I don't think I have..................rare...
....seem to be tumbling. Down 60p today. They've been a good earner over the last few years reaching over £15/share. Today they will finish close to £10/share.
Anyone draw any light as to why?
Should I be reinvesting at today's end of day price, or do you expect them to fall further?
Does anyone else think our fields seem to be invaded with buttercups this spring?
Probably down to the fact many fields weren't sprayed last year because of the weather; well, it certainly seems to have suited the buttercups!(n)
