So we rear alot of calves and sell at 4/5 months. Historically been sourced from market. With the obvious trial and tribulations with market calves, I think we do a v good job.
However I feel I've come to the end of the line on that route. What we achieve is probably the best that can be done...
Got two bags that look like this, on the right of the picture.
On the left is what 4 other bags have looked like so far, and what bags I have checked in the stack.
Should be 40n 14s.
Looks to me like the other way around?
Still considering the "sow after winter barley" approach for the ahl2.
Would replace a break crop.
All mixes contain a cereal, - spring barley or spring wheat.
Anybody worried about not getting a clean cereal break with this approach. Or is Feb to September a long enough break?
I have about 30 x 4 and half month old cattle in a barn. Healthy enough but the last 3 days beginning to get some niggles. Increase in coughing.
They were due to be mucked out this week as imo they have more muck underneath them than I'd like.
They are in 3 different pens and the 4th empty...
Simply, can one opt to start some sfi options - basic ones like hedgerows and management plans - now. Then add further options in the future - legume fallow or winter bird feed. Probably next year.
Would these options all run for 3 years but simply have different start and end dates.
OR
Is it...
Loads of Parsley piert covering the ground of the osr. Would prefer to just go in with Astrokerb in a while but has no information on control of Piert.
Being suggested to use Belkar now, but that will just add another cost. Will likely go in with Kerb regardless.
Anybody had experience of the...
Here we go again, I have read a through threads on this on tff, but thought I'd start another.
Plus always good to hear from our resident expert @ACEngineering .
735-120 won't reverse. Begain to jolt, then lost drive. Still goes forward.
Won't reverse in any of 3 gears.
No Fuses blown and...
Was gonna change oil on manitou. 735-120. But no drain pipe where one should think drain pipe should be.
First change on this machine for us.
What connection do I need?
Also is ATF dextron ll OK for gearbox transmission?
Have an opportunity of getting some digestate on some of our ground - as it happens it'll likely osr.
The cost to supply and spread is rather marginal to myself applying urea. P and K on our ground is good, so won't be saving on applications of bagged p and k.
Is this an opportunity that...
Our Murska 350 crimper is breaking auger shafts.
Replaced one last August, done about 170tons barley and broke again last Monday. Up and running again on Wednesday. 7ton later, snaps again.
Simple system. Driven off belt pto end, auger underneath rollers, other end drives the chain.
Replaced...
Struggling to reply to replies in threads. Once I hit the reply but to quote the message my cursor is in the quoted message and I can't get it out of that quote box.
If I just do a normal reply to a thread, my cursor will jump about and making big gaps in my reply.
Now not really replying to...
Still got 70 odd units of N still to go on the maize.
Going away for a week on Saturday and just wondered if sensible to spread AN tomorrow in the hope we get some rain but equally granules could be left caught in leaves with no rain ever arriving. Can this cause a problem?
The longer it gets...
Went spraying WB this morn, fungicide and terpal. Filled Sprayer at farm but left out terpal until I made sure the ears weren't out.
The block has a barn and another Sprayer filling area, so parked up and put the terpal in. I had to crack the last can open and measured a bit and left the...
Have now moved back to one of the farm houses and my little electric mower ain't going to cut it (no pun intended) with the new garden.
What recommendations anyone one have for a self propelled mower? - not ride on.
Obviously people must re-adjust applications based on prices of fert v grain.
How far and accurate do people try and do this?
Obviously know how much N was bought for, but what about grain price?
Did some calcs on ww - taking into accurate the soil N results - it'll need 85kg/ht!! With today's...
