Had a bunch of lambs tested, egg count suggested needed treatment for cocci as moderate infection. It’s now 3 weeks since treatment can they return to that paddock on the rotation now? It’s been empty for the three weeks.
thanks

Finally managed to cut our new red clover rye grass ley today. Just wondering if anyone has any tips on making a good job of it. It’s going to be put into round bales. Is there any difference to straight grass silage. TIA.
Turning some dry ewe lambs and later tupped in lamb ewes onto stubble turnips and rape mix today. First time we’ve grown it normally use rape/ryegrass mix. Anyone got any tips or anything I need to be aware of when grazing it.
Unfortunately had to have a caesarean on one of the ewes last month, just received a bill for the work which I feel is on the high side £381.25 plus VAT was just wondering if others would share what they are paying so that I can compare. This price would be very difficult to justify on a purely...
I cut three tup lambs in the summer august sometime as teasers. I was wondering whether anyone knew if it was safe to run them with some ewe lambs yet? They’ve not been near any ewes or been tested, just wondering if there’s a time scale to the procedure. I definitely do not want any surprise...
Wanted the forums opinion. A mate of mine has tack on a local farm it's good land, well kept and reseeded regularly. Farmer is very good and checks them twice daily. There were no fences so my mate and his father invested heavily in electric fencing and the kit to put it out off a quad. They've...
After my third day in a row getting absolutely soaked to the skin I’ve decided to bite the bullet and get some decent wet weather gear. Been looking at the kiawaka bib and braces and jacket, they’re very expensive but only heard good things about them. Our local branch agri store now have...
I am considering a change of livestock trailer, looking for a 12ft trailer double axel with decks and internal gates, pretty standard. Have always thought we'd go for another ifor Williams, but recently considered a nugent. What are peoples opinion on build quality and ease of use, as well as...
Have a piece of land for reseeding, it’s been grazed really tight. Was considering ploughing it without spraying off, would I be making a big mistake??
Want to get some lime spread next week, some onto grazing land which I’ll need a few weeks later and some onto a piece that’s due to be ploughed when I can get the sheds mucked out to go on it and the contractor to do the field work. Will it be ok the lime the land before ploughing always put it...
Have a 9 week old lamb that has broken his front leg between the knee and foot. No idea how it happened there’s no obvious hazards. Wondered if he’d caught it in a fence. Anyway, He’s totally non weight baring. I have splinted it and strapped it heavily. And had him inside to reduce his...
Just went to get a creep feeder ready for the early lambers but the trough has corroded in it, I have to say I’m disappointed with the build quality of it its really not that old 7 years maybe.
I’m now looking to replace it! Any recommendations on brands. I looked at two online today the Richie...
My ewe lambs are due for a first fluke drench of the year, but could also do with a wormer. Not keen on these combination drenches, perhaps a misplaced fear they increase the likelihood of resistance. But how long should I leave between the two doses, days, weeks ?? It would be triclabendozole...
In the spring I put some ryegrass/rape mix over some bare patches in the field before locking up for silage as a patching mix, just happened to be spare. I didn’t think it had taken until after I took first cut when it came through in the field with a fury. The patches of rape were really good...
Anyone got any experience of this machine? Looks a good machine, I want it for clearing rush and then trying to improve the pasture through draining, liming, ploughing and reseed. 90hp tractor looking at the 3m one.
I'm wanting to fluke drench our flock again as they were done with a triclabendozol based drench 5 weeks ago having blood tested before to check presence of fluke. It has been quite cold, down to freezing a fortnight ago (three or four days of frost) so should I be using the Triclabendazol once...
What is wrapped round bale silage worth? In south west wales, triple wrapped, young leys, fertiliser applied, both second and third cut bales, Should be good stuff.
I have an old ewe has been off her legs for about two weeks! She's been carrying three and was very heavy, I put it down to the excess weight and strain of the three lambs. I treated her as if it were twin lamb with osmonds bottle drench and calcium, but has had no effect. Throughout this she's...
An opportunity to look into the crystal ball.....
Was wondering what people's thoughts were about the likely forage availability and costs moving through the winter! There was plenty of forage made round here this year, but straw is now through the roof, I really hope I don't have to buy more...
Had any body got experience of doing them? Is it successful? Any tips?
Can they be fed to sheep as well as cattle? If i sell them on what are they worth??
Thanks
