Farmmatters does what I need for sheep, cattle and medicines. I suppose it is more money, but not what I would call excessive and generally you get what you pay for with very good support.

Farm Matters is well worth a look. I've just been using it for a month. There is a tutorial you can follow and they talk you through it before you use it. It seems to do everything I need with sheep, cattle and medicine records in one place and it's fairly intuitive.
