My mate runs hayter 5 and 7 gang trailed machines. Keeps buying machines with decent cutting units for little more than scrap money. Never spends a penny on sharpening and new blades etc. very cheap machines to run like that.
Cylinder mowers do give the best cut but they are so expensive to maintain and not at all user friendly that they have totally fallen out of favour. You can buy a good triple hayter/ransomes for peanuts.
To actually answer your question I’d say in something like a Countax 1200/1500 hours would be equivalent to 100k miles
Or look at it another way. Max 1 hours cutting per week. Times by 30 cuts a year. So 30 hours a year. Times by 10 years is only 300 hours.
My advice with mowers is always the same. But an old commercial machine rather than a new domestic. The difference between the two isn’t comparable.
I’ve just sold my neighbour a ride on scag zero turn in place of a John Deere LX289 which in itself is an excellent machine.
