    Compost turner and fym spreader

Just hire any rear discharge machine run it on tickover with bed fairly fast and tip into the top with loader from one windrow to another and keep moving forward slowly I would have thought the action of loading and the spreader teasing apart would be enough

    Massey Ferguson 8s

Yes I think you might be right yes I think your right on that we had a 7720 and decided a 210 was too small and a backwards step it also was far more expensive than an 8s so we got more tractor for less money even though it will be a bit big for some jobs

    Massey Ferguson 8s

The 10+ grand has an input. The tractor we’ve just bought is usually driven by my brother he said to me why would we want to spend 10k to need more hp to do the same job to get the same money secondhand as a dynashift im sure they are nice to drive but we have never had it so dont miss it and...

    Massey Ferguson 8s

When I decide to buy one I wanted a fresh off the production line one that had all the mods done at the factory but when I had quotes the price difference for an older machine that had been sat about waiting for the gearbox replacement was vast so going into it with my eyes open with a dealer I...

    Massey Ferguson 8s

Yes the gearbox is sorted now I believe. There is still new tractors having new gearboxes fitted now. We’ve just bought a 225 dyna 7 it was 28k cheaper than a dyna vt one because it’s an old stock tractor as well as the different gearbox it was also substantially cheaper than a 7s210. Also the...

Empty half of a 500kg fertilizer bag into fert spreader

My way is a bit basic but it works. I cut a little hole in the shape of a cross not too big 2 to 3 inches across so it comes out slowly and I can look at the box in the cab and see when I’ve got enough then u shove a rag in the hole to stop the fert coming out then slide a piece of plastic bag...

How much do agricultural machinery sales people get paid

My Guess would guess 5% going to dealership and 1% going to the rep. I’d be interested to know the actual answer but I guess very few will know and it will be distorted by targets etc

How much do agricultural machinery sales people get paid

Just been reading through this and thinking what a hard job it is to get into I often feel sorry for young reps coming round because the amount I’ve seen come and go over the years is incredible but I try to always make time for a chat if I can. Farmers generally deal with people who are...

    Fetf grants

Can I apply for a grant for a direct drill if I already had one on the first of these grants that came out in 2018? The grant at the time stipulated that we had to keep the drill for 5 years which we have so it there any reason why I couldn’t apply again? I am keeping the drill that we had last...

Why don’t you do it in squares then you can put as many slices in that you need. In my experience little rounds take forever to cart and stack

    Too fat to farm?

I was talking to my kids and their friends about this last week my eldest sons do run round the corner park but it’s a bit boring for them on all nice flat tarmac. When I was at school which was not that long ago mid 90s we went proper cross country runs across fields and on rough tracks in the...

Winter cover crops on heavy land... what a disaster

Very different equation though with arable which we are talking about in here all you can loose is a bit of money. With the herbal ley v ryegrass you can be left with a half full silage clamp and have to go out and buy feed or sell livestock which makes the payment look a bit small fry
