    on the bbc this morning was self driving cranes and trucks moving containers at the docks, and in the USA was a self driven dozer levelling a building site. The self drive tractor can not be that far now, just price depending.

    Aga cooker

    As you’re all on good Xmas form. We just brought a new AGA cooker and are fed up buying meat to cook in it, wondered if you’re had any free meal, like pheasant, partridge, may be venison you don’t want . Cheers. HAHA

    in the Mail today there is a croft for sale with the usual lovely photos. What I wondered is there any other farming there apart from sheep ? Or do they import all their vegetables etc.

    Ploughing matches

    Are all the the people who enter the match farmers or work on a farm ? I was thinking of ones like a small ferguson with a 2 furrow run round plough as a good chance these are not used for normal every day ploughing. If they are not on a farm where do they practice or set their tractors up ?

    we have just been away and was talking about the stone walls. Am I right in thinking that they would of originally built with the stones which had been cleared from the fields ? If so do farmers de stone fields today or is that a thing of the past ? Cheers

    Haulage/transport

    reading the threads on here, there seems to be an awful lot of haulage of stuff involved in agriculture. Be it the straw up and down the country, silage being harvested several miles away from main farm, crops to feed digesters, let alone food crops to rdc of big supermarket. Wonder how many...

    Fuel consumption

    I know the big tractors do more work etc, like the big rubber track models pulling umpteen ploughs . What I wondered do they use a lot less fuel to plough an acre than a smaller tractor pulling a 3 furrow plough. I know that speed or time is different just wondered about fuel used. Cheers
