That is torture, wed sometimes get that with tomatoes that are on the heated benches, which are basically a sand bed with a warming cable in the middle to keep a constant temp under the trays.

I’m not sure if it would really work as too much water would leave them a bit “soft” they are sitting on capillary matting which holds onto water to a degree and helps a lot too. It’s amazing how the roots grow down into it if left long enough.
