After failing to plant some of my winter wheat land, I’m still looking for 4 tons of spring wheat seed. I realise that it’s pretty late now to be trying to source some but is there anyone out there who’s got some for sale?
My farm’s on the Hereford/Glos. border.
Fair comment - I watched some videos on the Rabaud site, and they showed subsoiler pipe layers in various soils and it was obvious that different soils made a big difference.
So you draw the subsoiler through the ground three times at progressively deeper levels until it’s deep enough to lay the pipe: is that correct? And at what depth are you typically laying it?
You must be either working very deep or using a small tractor, as an American machine similar to yours...
The thing I noticed about Champion last year is that it throws up a lot of long ears, some 9” long or even more. It started to go down as I didn’t put on a late growth reg so it would probably be worth putting one on. Other than that it’s lower specific weight is more than compensated for by...
Yes, the same people gave me the same message, so this will hopefully stop the introducers of the electronic method in their tracks…(fingers very crossed)
One of my local grain buyers has just told me that they are none too happy with the present planned grain passport initiative, so if this is repeated among other small traders then perhaps the planned new system is toast. All I can say is Hooray, mainly because I really object to the funds for...
Who supplied your rollup, and did you design and fit it yourself?
Cheers, although I notice that the autoclave is still there; did it prove too difficult to shift?
What quantity are you pumping up at any one time? If it’s not too much, put a small holding tank on top that slowly meters out the liquid onto the top box.
Otherwise you could get a smaller pump at the bottom. Obviously that’s a pain as you’ve already invested in the present one but a change...
Store em and sell them in next springs fodder sales, but prices then are often not much better, if you take account of the cost of gathering and stacking.
Just been contacted by a neighbour who wants to buy 200 or so 4’ wheat round bales but I’ve no idea what is a reasonable price each this year. Location is north Glos.
Any indication would be appreciated.
At the moment all I know about wheat yields is a guess, but I’m hoping that they are high!
Good luck with your crops, as its been wet here for the last two weeks but hopefully you are dry.
