    Kverneland TS

We must have a different model to you, our metering wheel is to the right of the fan housing and hopper, so we can max out depth without it fouling on anything. I don’t think you would get enough depth/pressure to direct drill beans with it, but I use it after a heavy cultivation to plant beans...

    Kverneland TS

I ended up buying sabre tines from Weaving machinery which fitted straight on to the ts evo, although they reduce the ground clearance significantly. It works ok in the right conditions, but you can’t get the pressure to penetrate dry soils, and there is a lot of movement in the springs that...

    Run1000 charity event

Hi, this January Run1000 is back, raising money for rural mental health charities. All you need to do is sign up using the link below, give your entry donation, and then run or walk as many miles as you can in January. Bringing the cows in, checking the sheep or crops, it all counts. The nation...

    Tine drill solutions?

We did what you suggest, dropped the number of legs and use the auto reset sabre tines on our KV TS Evo. It works well on lighter and damper soils, and allowed me to get on and make a start on drilling before conditions dried up enough to get our Weaving GD out (see link). I need to sort some...

Broadcasting Cover crops into standing crops

Hi, I was wondering how you all got on last year with your cover/catch crop broadcasting? any lessons learned/advice? @ajd132 @jack6480 @Brisel @Chalky @Zan @MX7 @4course We broadcast a few fields of turnips into standing wheat, but post harvest it still hadn't rained so we ended up running...

    Direct Drilling - Clay soils

Have any of you applied gypsum to your heavy clay fields? and if so, did you see a benefit, was it worth the money/wheeling? It sounds great in theory, and an interesting read in the latest Direct Driller magazine, but will I notice an improvement in the soil structure for the short or long...

    Direct Drilling - Clay soils

Thanks for all the great advice. Moving from min-till we have been too worried about blackgrass to start drilling early, but our earliest direct drilled fields are pretty clean, so I will grow some balls and start earlier next year. we have defiantly learned our lesson that in the wet the drill...

    Direct Drilling - Clay soils

Direct drilling on heavy clay soils is tricky. There is a lot of great advice out there, but from those on many different soil types. As direct drilling hinges on soil I thought it would be useful to have a thread based on heavy-ish clay soils alone. just to kick it of; we have a Weaving GD...

    Tine drill solutions?

Yes, I had word with Mr Weaving, and the auto reset option should fit straight on the KV TS. If I kept it on a suitably powered tractor hopefully I would feel the strain if conditions were too tough before I bend the drill frame.

    Tine drill solutions?

Thanks @sjt01 & @Andrew K, really interesting. I have a Weaving GD and was looking for a tine option that might go in slightly wetter conditions without investing in a new drill. Someone suggested that the new Sabre tine drills have brackets on the front for cutting disks like a Sim-Tech...

    Tine drill solutions?

@Andrew K & @Badshot I have been considering converting our KV TS evo to use Weaving sabre tines, as a tine direct drilling option. I have my concerns if the frame is strong enough, how are you getting on, any signs of cracking or twisting? and tips? any info would be much appreciated. thanks

    Trail cam recommendations

We bought the following from Amazon. It all seems to work pretty well. Once every 2 weeks I charge the rechargeable batteries and clear the memory card. I wouldn't recommend these batteries as they are slightly wider than most and get stuck in the camera. It does the job. Its amazing what goes...

    Squeeze cattle crush

Hi, do you have any advice/experience of these squeeze crushes with horned cattle? We have been looking at the Arrowquip and Pearsons squeeze crushes, but they seem to catch the cattle in the head lock. We are concerned that horned cattle will push straight through if we open it up wide enough...

    Trail cam recommendations

Hi, what are your opinions on this camera 6 months on, and how long do the batteries last? I am thinking of buying one to monitor a gateway with frequent fly tipping. Could you read a car number plate from the videos or still in daylight?

    Kverneland TS

Hi @Badshot I am thinking of using my KV TS evo tine drill for more light directdrilling. I used it this autumn into some fluffier stubble fields where our weaving GD blacked up and it did a great job. I was wondering if I could find some narrower points to reduce disturbance and improve...

App to accurately plot land drains

hi, does anyone use an app to plot their land drains via GPS on a map. Looking for a fail safe method to record our land drains so that they can be easily found for maintenance. Any suggestions?

Drilling hybrid OSR with Vad rapid 300s

My worry would be that they would separate in the drill and I would end up drilling just slug pellets. Do they stay fairly mixed?

Drilling hybrid OSR with Vad rapid 300s

Hi, does anyone direct drill hybrid OSR with a vaderstad rapid 300s or similar gravity fed box drill. I was wondering how people manage the very low seed rate (2-3kg/ha). I have tried calibrating with 190 rotations not 19 to give a more measurable quantity, but the seed seems to run slower and...
