It aw depends what you look for in life.
Used to run 400 yows n rent ground. Realised by the time you spent running to and fro, diesel n wear n tear it wisny worth the hassle.
I'm quite aware there's some greedy fukrs out there that if they were making a million quid a...
small farm (120 acres)
150 breeding yows
25-30 suckler coos

Current input prices unbelievable (for everybody)
Wondering wher exactly the whole job is going.

Bought a set o the 4.5m Jarmet chain/spring tine harrows couple o years ago.
Quite impressed with the job they do and I think well made, would recommend them to anybody looking for a reasonable priced set o harrows
Getting some at £68.50 a roll, was £56 last year.
No sa bad, only needing 12 or so rolls as I've got 16 left over seeing as folk went for hay last year👍
got a mate who's on his 2nd 450, changed at 2 yr old with 8500 miles on for £2300.
My 700 grizzly with 5000 miles was 2 in October and dealer wanted £5200.
Worth a damn close look in my opinion??
That is the problem, fuel cost.
Also new pickups are getting beyond a lot o folks now, myself included.
Bought an ex demo Hilux invinceable just over 3yrs ago for 22800, quite sure I'd get what I paid for it now with 22000 miles.
Same pickup now I'm guessing I'd be looking at another 10000...
Quite possibly, but dont see the point in folk (not aimed at you) complaining about fuel consumption/ cost to fill it.
End o the day it's a working motor there to do a job
But surely you expect something thats sitting at just over 2 ton empty and capable o towing 3.5 ton is never going to be frugal on fuel.
Or is that just me?
A pal bought 1 Dec 18 and I got mine about 4 months before that and his has a button fitted to manually regen.
When mine went for service at dealer I asked the guy if it was a known issue with dpf filter giving problems and he said off the record aye, but they won't admit it.
Also said if gives...
Enough time to make and smoke a fag :p
Depends when it's started, best a couple o minutes. Worst about 4-5 minutes.
Not saying what I do is right, but book says to drive it at 2-3000 revs when its doing it on the road??
Mine is exactly the same, very seldom does it when convenient 🤬
I usually sit and rev it about 2500 revs til it's done then give it a minute or two to cool down before stopping it.
You must be on some bloody good smooth ground and only shot grass to be doing 6-7 acres an hour,
I do a wee bit on rougher ground with some heavy rushes and to do about 11 acres takes 7.5 hours and I'm charging it at £25 p/hr.
Always lights on through night when cattle in, plenty mates put lights off at 5.30pm and dont go near them til til 7-7.30 next morning.
Sorry but not my style, always check coos at bedtime and every 3-4 hours when calving.
We would all like that, BUT disny always work that way.
My auld man was of that opinion until he got/took dementia, my mum and me looked after for as long as we could until the nurses ended up being more concerned for her health and well being on a visit.
Ended up going into a carehome for 6...
