I wouldn’t rush them away, keep them to that 6 weeks age and you will be nearer £100 per life. Was getting £90 last year for them, sold some at home this year for that and have a handful left for longtown on Tuesday.
Cant be any unluckier at the moment, catching ewes up thats slipped lambs to go to the toon tomorrow with the hoggs that put teeth up. One has tried to jump out of the trailer and broke her leg 🤬
If you’re spreading 24m you need to be 24m apart, not 12. Enter 24 into the patchwork. Easiest to use on straight line guidance. Set your AB line off the streightest edge of the field as you’re doing your first pass. If the field is an awkward shape drive straight down the middle and work either...
Putting first dose on, just a month late. As @Aspiring Peasants said very little growth and hungry. This field is normally away in front of the sheep and getting barred off by the 10 may.
Thanks this is an older spreader. Yarra urea setting is a fair bit out on the app. Have left it at what it said for first field and it’s put on about 40kg/ha is more.
The deaths just keep coming. Had the Swale ewe hoggs in for tick treatment just before lunch, then turned them away to the fell. One had managed to get stuck in the roadside fence then flip it’s self over and neck it’s self by tea time.
Yes but very satisfying when you get them going right. Very rare you see any of our neighbours fixing any drains, same folk that complain when their making a mess getting silage in.
in your head lambing time is the hard part when actually the work only starts once they've hit the ground. 2.5-3 hours it’s been taking to do a round but last night took over 4 with all the problems. Starved pair in the last field, then you start thinking if only I had started at the other end. 😔
These had premature/ non viable lambs right at the start. Lot of ewes not wanting 1 lamb this time for some strange reason. Wouldn’t care if they were lean and no milk but it’s quite the opposite with these ones this time.
I’m to the point of no f*cks are given now, been trying to set lambs onto shearlings and the milk has gone off them they’ve been in the adopter so long so theve been turned away to the fell. Hate to see things go away with nothing. knacker man in at dinner time to remove the heap and 30 minutes...
Snap, 2 slurry pits about overflowing. Even the rough hill ground I don’t think I can get too. All the dry ground has been covered at least once and is now white with sheep.
I was not impressed with the service I was receiving from warrens either which was more of the reason to change. They were only picking up twice a week so things were sitting for 3-4 days next to the house in the middle of summer. Understand when they’re busy but they weren’t. £13.50 a ewe and...
