1984 JCB 3CX - Need someone to come and have a look at it for me

I know how this is going to sound, but have you checked that the pull stop has been pushed back in before starting? It’s happened to me! Someone else was driving the machine and left it pulled out. I always push it back in after the engine has stopped before leaving the cab. Took a while for...

    Led lights😠

Looks like your capacitor has blown. Unless that just a bit of mastic on it. Did it start flashing or just die instantly?

    Wiring loom tips

In my head, the easiest way is to plug in everything essential, all the sensors the engine needs and your fuel sender and radio etc. What’s left should be the non essentials, strip them and harvest the cables for wiring up the lights and heater. I’d also spray WD40 into every plug before...

    Pedal tractor

Bought one of these last year for a 5 year old, has an adjustable seat. I’ve sat on it myself, It’s big enough. I’d go for pneumatic tyres next time though, the plastic wheels are poor on grass. The one with kid in the title is the small one...

    Robust watch that's not HUGE?

There’s a metallic gold version that’s even more expensive as it’s “hip”. The people that buy it for it’s ironic value are parodied well here : That plastic version is great, but the strap usually breaks (perishes) before the watch. I wear the analogue version and it’s served very well over...

    Electrical engineer

Have you got a photo of the interior of the control boxes? The PLC will be controlling the contractors that operate the blade and move the table. It should just be a matter of setting up buttons to do each function. With a bit of extra wiring. Is there a wiring diagram anywhere on the...

Tired feet is what you can get from a heated floor if you're standing on it for a while. the heat from the floor makes your feet feel tired. some people advise against heated floors in kitchens because of this. Then again, you'll be in your boots and they'll probably save you from it.

    Building new workshop

My few thoughts: You wouldn’t have to heat the entire floor, don’t forget about “tired feet” from the underfloor heating. Duckboards at machines/workbench Make sure the electrics are right, bigger cable when wiring it means you can use the welder any where! LED spots are good over a...

Today, I removed a bodge To replace it with an aerial that had been bought for another job 5 years ago and was dug out of the shed. However, you’ll be glad to hear I needed to do some bridging of my own: Plug was missing in action Ceramic 60 amp connector (missing one screw) Plus...

I once saw a guy get metal in his eye whilst wearing goggles (the ones with the vent holes) AND safety glasses on. If I hadn’t watched it, I would never have believed it. There’s a proper style of goggle. Treat yourself!

    Compressor problem

This is what I’d do: First thing I’d look for is a reset switch on the compressor (I’ve had compressors brought to me that just needed to be reset). They’re almost impossible to see on certain compressor models. After that, I’d make sure the compressor was turned off, I’d take off the cover of...
