    Rotary Parlours

Thanks for the post, this is a big help and gave me questions to ask myself, and things to consider in the layout. I guess GEA being the closest will be to the more expensive end of the price range but you pay for quality. Like @Grassman247 said Id assume Waikato have perfected their rotary a...

    Rotary Parlours

I'm in SW Scotland. I don't mind getting offers from miles away, if I can get organised enough and plan it to see a couple relatively close together the distance doesn't matter- love a busman's holiday! I guess its a way of milking I haven't considered before and have no experience with, the...

Thanks for the offer, it might be a couple of months before I get round to it but I'd love to visit!

    Rotary Parlours

I'm in the very early stages of considering a new milking set up (still at the stage I come out in a cold sweat when thinking of the cost) I think the best solution would be a rotary for the usual time efficiency reasons and to provide a great environment to work in. I'm currently milking 330...

    Shed Price Inflation

Yeah, I was thinking 30%+ Cement and steel don't seem to be dropping as quick as I hoped.

    Shed Price Inflation

Afternoon all I've been starting to think about putting up another shed for some cows. The last shed we put up was a cubicle house for 150cows- center feed passage, 4 rows of cubicles, 2x 6ft slatted tanks. That was at the start of 2020 just before the price of materials sky rocketed. Prices...

Came for the shed building, stayed for the fireworks. Great insight to the costs

Tb risk of buying in cattle

Not really considered them. I'd think they would be a bit more extreme and have more milk than I'd like. Not sure how long the process would take if I wanted them here for Sept?

Tb risk of buying in cattle

I've been looking to buy in some extra autumn calving cows this year but good grazing type cattle are a bit harder to source in Scotland. I've been looking further afield but I always have the nagging Tb question at the back of my head. Am I being overly cautious and will isolating and...

    PTO shaft safety project

The chains that stop them spinning with the shaft too. Weak and fail within days of use.

    Agrismart

Certainly looks the part. We're thinking of installing a mains run pump for the volume we need. Good to hear from someone whos dealt with them before, cheers

    Agrismart

Thank you, I'm just being cautious. I just wanted to make sure id see something for my money before I put a deposit down. They seem to know what they are talking about on the phone, just making sure (y)

    Agrismart

Ive been planning a system to pump spring water from the steading to a bladder tank at the top of the hill and I came across Agrismart online. Has anybody had a system installed by them? I have never heard of them before and i just want a bit of piece of mind before taking the plunge.

    Low fpd

How is water availability in fields? Ive had that problem with just having a trough at the gate, another further in the field would encourage cows to drink more throughout the day and reduce competition?

    Breed change on passport

I think they'll be too busy to chase a little issue like finding a single calves parentage but you cant be sure with them  Seriously though, I cant see there being a problem tbh. You could give them a phone for piece of mind before you send it in if you like. It really shouldn't have been...

    Breed change on passport

Never dealt with bought in animals but have made a couple of mistakes registering breeds myself. Just scored out the incorrect breed, wrote in the correct one then sent it into BCMS. They will send out an amended passport in a couple of weeks. No major questions asked.

    Vet call out charges

Its ridiculous - £33.10 for them to travel 1.1 miles. Makes me question doing more routine work with them.
