    New John Deere RX

I'd guess that it's those great big paddocks in Australia that will, in the not too distant future, be filled with the autonomous version of these and others. The future is definitely driverless.

    New John Deere RX

Prior to those Quadtracks and original RX's being launched though, you could have said exactly the same thing!

    New John Deere RX

I guess you won't be replacing your horse team anytime soon then. I suspect others will be buying to suit their needs and wants.

    New John Deere RX

Someone currently running x2 smaller 9RX's or x2 Case quadtracs? Someone who wants to outdo the neighbours? People have been saying "who'd buy that" since hp went over 100.

    New John Deere RX

So who will be the 1st in the UK to buy one of these? 830hp (boosting to 913hp) and a ballasted weight of 38 tonnes. There'll be some here in Lincs no doubt. I suspect the bigger announcement by Deere yesterday though was the autonomous tractor capability being built into many of their new...

    Loler inspections

As far as I know (and various HSE leaflets and web pages say the same) there is NO requirement to have a telehandler/tractor loader LOLER tested if nobody is in danger in the event of failure. So if this is you then don't bother with LOLER. You will never have an accident, as nobody is ever in...

    1976 John Deere 3130

I always liked the look of this. Air con fitted, cast wheels and big tyres. Must have worked for a living at some point. Pics taken at the JD anniversary day in 2016.

    Workshop videos and video nasties

I look at a lot of "how to" videos on YouTube. The trick is to try and work out who knows what they're talking about (just like this site!!). That means watching quite a few videos on the same subject. It usually then becomes clear and is NOT based on how pro the video is. I enjoy some of...

    Footsfitter

The "old" BFF seems much bigger on Facebook than TFF does. TFF seems more and more to be the same people posting things to each other. Facebook groups seems to be where it's at - groups for hedging/slurry work/combining/classic tractors etc etc.

Who said tractor manufacturers over price their spares??

You're right there. I was shopping for lamb the other day. British lamb produced here was way more expensive than the NZ stuff shipped half way around the world!!! I agree with you that us consumers should vote with our wallets. After all, what's in it for us to support, in your case local...

Tractor manufacture's need to up there game

I suppose Boeing or Airbus could build you a tractor with airliner style reliability. Obviously it would cost you 100k per HP and you'd have to have a team of specialist technicians carry out a full inspection before every use. Plus you operators would have to undergo months of training and...

    RPA inspections....reasonable or not ?

So you were penalised for something you hadn't done? Or you're angry that it was a surprise?

    RPA inspections....reasonable or not ?

I had a European audit once. I gave the poor farmer the heads up the night before and told him there may be "quite a few" of us. Even I wasn't expecting the 5 cars and 15 people that showed up!! Luckily the farmer was calm and all went well!

    RPA inspections....reasonable or not ?

I'm afraid you're mistaken. The RPA are responsible for sheep and cattle inspections, irrespective of any claims you may have. They do inspect non claimants. The difference at the minute is that as a claimant you risk losing some money if you're discrepant. A non claimant can refuse an...

    RPA inspections....reasonable or not ?

As a now ex sheep/cattle inspector (not for 5 years) I'll make a few points. Nothing much has changed since I did it. Once the computer has selected you for an inspection, you are getting inspected no matter what the excuse. Death of the keeper was the only excuse allowed for a delay over...

    Amazon Prime Subscription VAT?

True, you have to be VAT registered. You are forced to be VAT registered at a certain turnover or you can choose to be. Either way, you then become 20% more expensive to your customers because you are told to collect a 20% tax on behalf of the government!

    Amazon Prime Subscription VAT?

Getting your VAT back isn't a claim from the government! It's getting money back that YOU have earned, had taken off you by the government and that you are entitled to get back. Very different from benefits/SFP.

    Amazon Prime Subscription VAT?

Can you claim the VAT back for Prime membership? I'm all for claiming every penny I can from the VAT man, but I'd struggle to justify claiming for something that gives me music and video as part of the deal (Even if Clarkson's Farm is part of it!). Plus only ever ordering stuff for farm use...

    Stacking small bales

Is it possible to load bale trailers with small, conventional bales without having anyone on the trailer? Even with flat 8's I've always been on a trailer to fully load it. Anyone managed to do it? Do you need a specific size of trailer?

    Weight Limits

This is bang on the nail IMO. "It's a grey area" is another way of saying "I'm ignorant of the actual law and if I bother to check what it is, then I'll be aware I'm breaking it". Weight and speed limits are very clear in law for all but the most extreme scenarios. As to things being legal in...
