I'm relatively new to arable farming and wanting to do the same. I don't have enough historic data to help put into my decisions and wondering if Nix is over/under or about right on some of its estimates
Kuhn/Rauch have relaunched the mounted Aero pneumatic spreader. That’s going to be the most precise granular application you get, far better than discs plus much less susceptible to windy conditions. (Just sit down when you get a quote).
Sorry, I should learn to respect my seniors. I just formed an opinion based on literature surveys, engineering knowledge, soil mechanics and knowing people who run them. Like a lot of people here, I should know my place and keep my opinions to myself.
Glad to see it’s not just a Wardy knocking page from the “usual suspects”. Before this post it had just turned into a mass collection of schadenfreude.
You misquoted me as I never said the results were not worth taking notice of.
Secondly (and ironically) I don’t like the tone of your replies. It’s taking an aggressive turn with all the capitals. Have a lie down, put some whale music on, make a green tea and write a strongly worded letter to...
So you’re willing to tell everyone on here ad nauseam that you know all about DD and it’s the only way forward. You’re happy to say that a farmer that’s done an open trial is wrong, his conclusion are false because of the plethora of mistakes he’s made so his recommendation to DEFRA is wrong...
It was a very unique spring. Drilled on a wet day but that was the last rain for a long while. All the DD slots opened as the ground dried. The freeflow covered it better. Against “true” DD (it was direct into stubble in all parts, bar where the car park was) they stubbles raked and rolled...
This was a conversation about direct drilling. His justification of what tractor he buys feels out of scope. From his videos, he covers depreciation, insurance, finance costs etc etc so i can only assume it comes out in the wash.
As for the drilling day, I agree the results will be skewed by...
From his last video, he’s not got it yet so I think we’d all struggle to cost that? You can only cost what you’ve got at the time? I’ve not costed in the drill I’ve yet to buy in this years drilling costs.
Wow thats a lot of mistakes he’s making! You really don’t hold back!
I would say that the demo day was April 6th, so (IMHO) not too late. I attended the day and know it was planned 6mths in advance. None of us can arrange perfect conditions that far ahead and think we’d all agree it was far...
Has anyone got experience of the Horizon DSX. It’s new to the market but has some smart ideas across the drill and £/m seems reasonable. Just wanted to know if those ideas and cost actually come together to make a decent direct drill. I’m on clay ground and looking to drill into a mixture of...
This feature is available on the new Valtra T series 5th generation. It’s said to be “coming” but no one seems to know when. Anyone on here got a clue?
I’m probably a tad biased but it’s my fathers business. He does sliding barriers all over the UK and has been since the late 1990s. All is custom made in his farm workshop and galvanised as standard. He is a tenant farmer but started the ironwork as a diversification about 30yrs ago then...
Thanks all for the answers. It sounds like we “could” do it ourselves but may be a safer investment to get a professional telecoms person in. On the Lincs Notts border near Newark if anyone has a recommended fitter.
