Come on you farm engineers if you were to build one from scratch
what features would be an absolute must.
Would you choose discs or more of a knife like coulter?
How would you go about designing a drill which would cope with a mixture of cropping
from Cereal, rotational grass ,into cover crops...
Good or bad idea?! Land still pretty wet though walks ok on top, got a few failed ‘patches’ following Claydon or 750a in October. Use front tine to create a drainage slot and try and cover heavy seed rate with following harrow? Or best waiting till proper dry and use spring wheat? Any...
A potential anaerobic digester just up the road from me had its Planning Committee meeting yesterday. They had already approached me to grow crops for them & take digestate back. I would prefer a break crop if possible. The farm has a significant blackgrass burden. Mostly brashy soils prone to...
Hi,
Having a couple of seasons under my belt as the main decision maker with two polar opposite years, I’m looking at what min-till cultivations would be best. We took on this arable farm which was direct drilled with a 750A year after year, heavy clay ground which was tight as hell. We are...
Still no further with this. really dont want to go with liquid as dont want the work or expense of plumbing in 36 coulters.
Is there not a hopper that will fit on front links of tractor with two smallish air pipes that will dump 50kg/ha of P into the two venturis on the drill? just seems so...
So we’ve modified, developed and pimped the rear tine based coulter bar of our Horsch front tank based twin outlet drilling rig as far as we can like triggers broom and it’s now time to produce the next evolution to take it to the next level from what we’ve learnt and utilising newly parts and...

How can growers cut greenhouse gas emissions on farm? Agronomist Chris Taylor’s Nuffield scholarship looked at how regenerative farming could help.

Enough carbon footprints have been carried out on arable farms over the...
If you have a to redrill a field due to grassweed infestation so it's been sprayed off (round up) but obviously also had a pre em will this affect the emergence of the redrilling and how would you approach this situation? Thanks in advance.
Nearly all cont wheat here , the last field to cut always has the straw chopped
It's incredibly consistent , not record breaking but very reliable
May start chopping more often ,
I have a 750a 6m isobus drill I have connected to a 2630 display. I have the boxes checked under the drill setup page for section control, but it is not bringing up the section control option on the main 2630 page. Am I missing a step? Any help is appreciated.
Taking out 50ac of grass for wheat but don't really want to plough. Grass has been down 6 years, heavy ground, realistically do i have any other options? All cultivation work normally done by contractor but looking for independent advice and take work back in-house.
Anyone run one?
Any strong opinions either way?
Like the look of the eco drill, potentially interested in finding a 2nd hand 6m, saw one at groundswell few yr ago, like the apparent simplicity of it. I’m a simple person.
But….
Seed hopper on big wheels behind the coulters. I’m in...
I mucked around with the time settings for mechanical delay on the drill settings screen and tractor screen last autumn drilling the wheat and my in’s and out’s have been noticed!
Could anyone let me know what the times are for on/off please. Running a 4 metre 750a.
Thank you!
Let’s start a harvest 23 thread! So how far do we all think we are from starting? Winter barley rapidly ripening here early start is on the cards. First week of july maybe, rape just starting to lose its greenness also!
