Warning: some elements of this post are a bit of a rant.
I think many if not all farmers assume that they need to grow their business. The mentality is that if you are not expanding, then you are standing still or even going backwards.
Where does this notion come from?
Take it to the logical...
Would it be possible to have a livestock transport thread on TFF.
There are many times of the year when people need stock moved out of their area and it would be useful to have suggestions of hauliers who may be able to move smaller numbers as a back load to keep costs down and make livestock...
It may not be the same in other parts of England but on the Cotswolds I see a huge hectarage of herbal leys coming on stream, presumably because of new stewardship schemes etc.
As not farming any more I am wondering how these leys are going to be utilised, or are can you still make a small profit...
Was chatting to someone in the village about the weather, said possible looking at loosing money due to losses if milling premium losses. He said well you'll get money off the government for that

my home mixed ration...

Livestock farming has an elephant in the room......
Static beef price, and lamb struggling to hold it's own, how do we afford fertiliser at £1000 a tonne???
I just cannot see how to cut inputs and still have enough income to cover feed, fuel and fertiliser increases???
Is everyone in the...

Do I technically need to now run on white diesel even though the scrap is farm waste and its proceeds will be paid into the farm account?

Horrible thread title to start, ridiculous really, totally unnecessary; but Putin has done it... it seems crazy. :(
I think we - Nato / the West / Democracies - should arm and finance Ukraine. I think we should have a zero tolerance of infringement of NATO airspace and territory.
And I think...
As the wheat prices seem almost completely dependant upon news about this right now which way does the crowd wisdom of TFF think things will go in the Ukraine ?
