been offered this and "snapped it up"...but few second thoughts
arable break....clean.... but it"s a bit yellow?...is it just water and pish?...or am I being picky?
would like to tup some ewes on it
I'm having a rather worrying run of abortions. Beef suckler herd, regen grazing. Lost 2 in 3 weeks out of 6 cows due to calve. Both at 8 months, other cows also calved early but living.
Have noted that the two aborted just 2 days after a move up the road, two separate occasions. Those cows run...
Hi all, after some advice
Has anyone tupped ewes on OSR or cover crops successfully? After a conversation with a regular forum contributor last night we think it will be ok as long as the iodine issue is addressed. Sorry if this has been asked before but I can't find a thread that really gives...
Ewes and lambs have tested very low in iodine (as expected) and trying to work out the best way to supplement them.
Tups go out in 5 weeks.
All sheep have just received a Flexidine injection.
Given the blood test results were so low (35 ug/l test result, should be over 150 ug/l) I'm thinking...
Mrs just decided to buy 20 odd two shear Romney ewes 😖
We’re a steep pennine hill farm and run a mix of Cheviot cross and Welsh hill put to Cheviot tups
So …., what to tip them with ( we have ncc Cheviot and texel tups)
And also will they fit in on a steep cold hill farm
Thanks in advance
Looking at ordering some sheep bolus, tests show we're short on selenium and cobalt, the Mayo ones look good with 350mg of cobalt 100mg selenium, seen some others (g shepherd) at 1000mg cobalt and same selenium.
How much cobalt does a ewe need?
Just wondered who's all working Monday? Just spoke to the contractor for bailing on monday.an he said there are a couple of estates will just check stock in the morning and that'll be them for the day.
Spent quite a while yesterday with our collection, following various issues which arose during a marathon dosing session.
Problem 1: Why is the barrel full, and not full, at the same time FFS 🤬??? Set to 8ml, barrel full, delivering 6ml. It's a tired old boy but a favourite and it' turns out...
Methane reducing feed additives have been cited as an innovative way for ruminant livestock farmers to help reduce methane emissions from their livestock. NFU livestock advisor Harriet Henrick looks at the story so far.
Currently most additives are either incorporated into a total mixed ration...
Hi,
Currently changing sheep policy a lot (only recently up to me), so trying to not make too many f ups on the way.
Always been an indoor lambing suffolk/cheviot x mule flock and then feeding lambs for early market. Now switching to smaller but multiple bearing ewes, lambing outside in April...
Has anyone used these at lambing time yet? I had too many cases of watery mouth last year and thinking of giving these a go.
I know there are factors that can help avoid watery mouth but I always seem to have some trouble with it. Ewes are usually housed in good condition and well fed all winter...
Must be time for an updated discussion on feeding in lamb ewes through the winter and lambing.
Firstly hard feed is not being considered here due to system change.
Not needing the time, disturbance and cost of fuel and wear and tear in ATVs and Snackers. When you add it all in to the...
Nearly sure Iv asked this before but can’t be bothered searching back. Is there any easy cure for it other than sell sheep totally ? Have sold a portion already and wondering if more needs to go
Sorry for being a bore and repeating myself
Morning all.
Looking for some advice.
March born suff cross lambs getting very dirty. they had Zolvix wormer nearly 3 weeks ago as a fire break dose but have had white wormer twice before that in previous months.
Also had a copper bolus (2g) at end of May
Any ideas ?
I have a ram with a big ear haematoma, and because he’s been shaking his head, the other ear is starting to fill too. We’ve already had to cut his eid tag out and there’s no chance of getting a tag back in that ear. If the other ear goes the same way we’ll have to cut the tag out of that one...
Is anyone having trouble getting Tracesure 3 in 1 Ewe and Lamb boluses? Ordered nearly 2 weeks ago, plenty phone calls and they still don't have them. Cant get locally but online was much cheaper too.
My lambs are virtually standing still growth wise and looking dull in their coats. They have grass in front of them but it is parched and looking much paler than I'm accustomed to on my wee place. I was staggered to find Harbro tubs are up at 28-31 quid this year in the small quantities I buy...
