    FABBL inspection by WhatsApp

Got a beef and sheep inspection by WhatsApp comming up soon. Has anyone else had one of these? How long does it take? Or do you have to email stuff to them afterwards? The lady said she wanted to see videos of the animals but I’m not sure how good my signal is outdoors.

    Beef cattle shed ideas

Currently looking at putting up a new cattle shed, after some ideas and what you would recommend. Looking for it to hold around 100/150 head. Also cost wise how much money would I save if I was to make all internal gates, feed barriers myself rather than buying off the likes of a local merchant...

    Wild cattle coral

I have a coral to build for wild cattle. Think limo but worse. From your livestock experience what height would be the minimum requirement and spacing between rails. To be built out of timber.

bbc article on this morning news feed (export of cattle to middle east for slaughter)

I am sure this does happen with cattle and sheep. That is the re-export of stock from EU countrys. It disgusts me as a industry we allow this to happen. Why can the livestock not go on a hook dead .£15 a head is properly average price that a Holstein bull calf is sold for, kindest thing is to...

    Ear infection after tagging.

Doubled tagged a few gimmer lambs to keep as replacements using shearwell tags. Some seem to have bad infections where the tags have gone. Tags have been put in in the right place. Is it something I've done wrong? Sprayed them with cyclo spray will this make them go down or should I cut tags out...

National Beef Association on the wrong track ?

I read in the Farmers Guardian that the NBA are suggesting the age at which cattle can be sold as prime beef be lowered to 27 months to allegedly reduce the carbon footprint of beef production. Firstly I completely disagree with their calculations as slower grown grass fed beef actuallytakes...

    EID reader for sheep.

Looking to buy a sheep tag reader for sheep. Not doing anything fancy. Just to basically read and record tags of sheep in each field and to get a record saved of ewes sold off the farm. A system that is self contained with a big screen and ease of set up in relation to mobs and fields would...

    Illegal Livestock Grazing

Think this comes under Agricultural Matters rather than livestock. New neighbour acquired part of field we contract farm. Vendor fenced boundary, purchaser proceeds in erecting two gates in boundary then blocks us from accessing field from north leaving us a only southern entrance not an issue. Now he...

    Heat Detection Systems

I am looking to replace a silent herdsman heat detection system and would like to know what people think of the various systems that are available at the moment. I like the silent herdsman system apart from having reliability issues with the collars. So far I have looked at Genus breeder tag...

    Broken mouthed ewes on twitter

Did any one see the post about aberfeild ewes broken mouthed 2016 born? Kicked up quite a storm much to the pleasure of some mule breeders. Going through my own ewes today I found alot of 2015 born ewes broken and finding a correct mouthed 2012 born ewe a rarity.

    Jury service

Afternoon Just had a key member of staff call to say he had been requested for jury service this august for 2 weeks. I haven’t seen the letter yet but thought I’d ask here for some collective wisdom. I’m assuming we can write a letter for him to say he can’t be away from his job at a peak time...
