Daughter spotted 7 people and 3 dogs running loose in a field behind our house, all yapping and sheep in adjacent fields all huddled up and stressed.
Bear in mind we have 1275 pregnant ewes on the farm but not in this field. Gates locked too no footpath. pee'd off I shot round there in gator...
Just a question for anyone that has had this in sheep before.
We started lambing on the 1st of jan. It was all going fine untill a week ago and have been hit fairly hard with it. Lost roughly 60 lambs so far to but I’m finding that anything that’s actually managed to live is fairly weak. Might...
I queried this issue on the forum once before and concluded that it may have been administration issues
Firstly we are using a different sealant to usual. Ubroseal Blue.
We dried off 98 cows on Friday, this morning 44 hrs later I counted leaked milk on 37 beds and pools/puddles of milk a...
Had the ewes in today to fluke drench and sort for housing. After I'd finished I noticed that one particular ewe had left this rather strange vaginal discharge. What is it? She's left multiple puddles of the same in the yard and appears to have stopped discharging for the meantime anyway.
Does your farm or animals suffer with a liver fluke burden? Do you think you may have a flukicide resistant problem?
We would love to hear from you! Here at Ridgeway Research Ltd we are looking for liver fluke which are resistant to Closantel or triclabendazole. Would you be interested in...
Our place is now utterly saturated, so much so the tractor slithers about on what flat ground we have whilst feeding bales.
I moved the boss ladies cows and am now setting the big shed up ready for housing the in bye flock , typically the forecast looks a little more settled next week.
Anyone...
We have a 1994 JCB 409 powershift, we she runs low (read empty) on hydraulic oil she loses the ability to go forward, most of the time it reverses (i think? We don’t do too much investigation as we’re scared to do damage) and sometimes you can trick it for a short stint to go forward but I think...
16 month old stot here is scouring non stop. Started to look a bit scoury when he was outside end of october, but never got him in until mid November, dosed with panacur, did nothing. Sent in a dung sample and it's free of worms and fluke. Herd is bvd negative, and we don't bring anything in...

I'm sure Its mentioned somewhere but as we know the search facility is a 'bit variable' :sneaky: to say the least .

We are farming four blocks one is two minutes walk but two are 15 minutes by car
Chap on the phone to me was saying his tractor finance was over £600 a month ( plus vehicle finance, plus farm rent etc etc )
They cover ground up to an hour away yet he said to me , 500 odd sheep...
Have been mineral bolusing my cattle for about the last 5 years and thinking there must be a better way that my current battle. Has anyone got any good tips for streamlining this as can be slow when I have to halter individuals who thrash their head about. Keep feeling I'm close to getting...

Thinking of changing wormer this year. Always used an ivermectin injection before but not happy with results, especially during the grazing season.
Going to use a drench that does fluke too. I know I'll have to treat lice separate now.
Are hook drench guns any good?
Can you do a row of cattle...

New research suggests that the reduction or removal of antibiotics will not reverse antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Latest research from Alltech’s European Bioscience Centre, shows that while antibiotic reduction or discontinuation can be “valuable...
Have a batch of ewe lambs that are not putting on condition, and sone going backwards, despite plenty of good grass.
Just been emailed the results of a worm count and is (almost) clear of worms.
Liver fluke is negative, but positive for Rumen fluke.
From what I have read, there is no routine...
I have a handful of lambs that I’m trying to finish but they seem to have lost their appetite. I’ve been feeding them creep and recently been able to do this ad-lib but they just don’t seem interested. The field they’re in isn’t brilliant for grass now but they also have access to a shed with...
So frustrated. Did a fec count, high count, gave them Zolvix drench, still scouring, did fec again, low count. On a big flush of grass. They’re just not doing and look pot bellied. Any ideas please. 🙏🏻
