We have some quite bad ryegrass can you tell me what is the best practice ie autumn cultivations and then cultivations pre spring drilling . Fields are in arable rotation and we want to continue with this . Thanks
Have been wondering recently if there is any scope to reduce glyphosate rates and add wetter/penetrant type products to improve efficacy. It never seemed cost effective in the days of cheap glyphosate but now it is 4 times the cost maybe it is time to look at them again. Does anyone have any...

Winter wheat grassweed threat needs urgent attention
Significant populations of grassweeds, including ryegrass and brome, threaten winter wheat yields this year after farmers struggled to implement robust herbicides in the autumn.

Spring Oilseed Rape 2019
A rise in spring drilling is expected in 2019 as a direct result of the winter oilseed rape area dropping to around 580,000 ha. One effect of the prolonged dry conditions which made establishment even more challenging than normal.
These warmer than normal conditions...

Planning chemical strategy with the agromonist this afternoon and it seems to be a nightmare planning grass weed control with following crops. I've direct drilled wheat after grass and needs a tidy up for grass weeds. Normally Othello or hatra or the such will do it but because I want to plant a...
Just wondered how long you suggest you should leave a field alone after it has been ploughed before you cultivate it and put the barley in the ground.
Many thanks.
Looking at dropping oats from the rotation, as they are the only reason we are farm assured.
All wheat and barley goes to local farms or our cattle
Plan is 2 wheats, a barley, followed by a cover crop then spring barley
What % of Winter Wheat is still established with a plough?
We farm in Cumbria and my guess would be as a county 90% will still be put in with a plough, what about in other parts of the country?
Is there a national figure?
We're putting in more cover crops this year to carry all sheep on over winter 700 2th/4th and 600/700 REL. This winter we have been grazing stubble turnips with one mob of REL and then cover crop for the other mob of REL.
Cover crops made up of: Vetch, tillage radish, rye, volunteer cereals and...
