Hi, has anybody out there used these boluses?
Might be a daft question ,but, do you fold the wings inside the gun or leave outside and just push down the throat?
Were they effective?
Thanks Howard
Uncertain times in farming at the moment.....texel ram lamb makes £200,000 at lanark today, great to see a bit of positivity and forward thinking, the buyers of this lamb obviously werent thinking of showing caution with brexit looming....all credit to them and also to the breeders.
First time poster here... I'm not part of the farming community, but I was hoping someone could help me with research for a paper I'm working on. So far, the Internet hasn't been too helpful, so I thought I'd seek some first-hand info from people in the know.
I'm trying to understand more about...

hi all, we've had 9 cows with ketosis so far this spring (we spring block calve). We might get 1 or 2 most years. It's a hell of a jobbto get them back too. They've had a full course of keto said and steroids. This brings their blood ketones back to where they should be, but they still don't...

My fault entirely, some of our lambs have been too big this year. Causing pain for ewes, lost some lambs, extra antibiotic use, some prolapses etc.
Predictable, never had so much winter grass, drier than average winter, plenty of veg waste to feed & no wastage of nuts when feeding ewes on the...
historically we’ve had one post calver and one pre calver go down with it in ten years.
This year we had one a fortnight ago, one this morning and another this afternoon, today’s two have responded well to calcium (iv and sub cut)
There is nothing we can think of management wise that we have...

Hi , we had the vet out on Friday to a cow we suspected had staggers, the vet confirmed this and she treated it with a bottle of Mag injection. As she was doing so the cow went down as can be fairly normal. After a couple of hours we tried to stand it. She’s like she can’t move her back end. We...

Eh up!
The idea of starting a thread about Holistic management has been on my mind for ages, if I am honest.
Lets start by me putting my cards on the table - I have NO formal training, NO books, and NO interest in starting big wars on which way is best.
I do, however, completely and...
Got a 3 day lambed ewe. Lambed triplets herself. Cleansed OK. She had big bag pre lambing. She's been off colour all day. Lambs full but she's no keen on coming in for her feeding. Wondering if it could be a touch of milk fever?
What is best to feed her to promote recovery? I have her on hay...
