    Tractor hp options

Why do manufacturers give such a range of horsepower on tractors that have the same engines/transmissions etc. For example the case magnum / nh T8 rangegoes from 250 to 380 with as far as I am aware exactly the same components. It presumably doesn't cost any more to get it to the higher power so...

Combine for 50 - 70 acres of barley a year

I'm currently looking to upgrade my Bonhill E514. What is a good choice? I have owned her for seven years and it's now getting a little much for the old girl. She cuts around 50 - 70 acres or barley in August - September. I was thinking something along the lines of a Claas Dominator. Possibly a...

    CASE IH MX270 40km/h?

Can anyone tell me what kind of road speed they've had on a CASE IH MX270? I know they are 40k but just wondered if it's a "just about 40km/h" kind of tractor or if they do a bit more?

To dual or not to dual

Is it better to squash down half the width 2” or twice the width 1”. It’s pretty wet so anything run on will suffer. The eradicators will dig out my wheelings to some extent. Also they are big heavy barstewards that are an utter pain to get on and off, and often seem to be at the back of the...

    Question for mechanics

If you are fitting a manifold and a new turbo do you use new bolts or reuse the old ones, a good mechanic I know will only use the proper new bolts , says the old ones can be pulled and might not stay tight.

One of the T7 260 has suddenly, whilst ploughing lost drive in all but the very lowest gears. It works hard in 12th and 13th gear and to me it sounds like the clutch packs have gone - although I have not actually seen it. The error code I am told is 2385. What are my options? Are these boxes...
