As above but what's the most dense bale to wrap, can be round or square. Just trying to work out if a 6string square is heavier and uses less or more wrap than a modem round chopped bale to wrap.
Basically tons per roll of wrap is the key.
Do these 6stringers even have choppers? We have a 4...
Stocks of hay are low, saving decent silage for calving and young stock. Weaning next week. Cows in fairly decent condition, due to start calving first week of Feb.
I've a clamp full of spring barley and pea wholecrop. Taken when very ripe and dry. I don't own a mixer wagon. Would this...
Can anyone help? We normally use feed company but would like to do it manually by myself. Did study a while ago now and I've forgotten. We grow all the fodder for the beefers ourself other than some straight protein. Rather do it myself than rely on someone who is desperate to sell overpriced...
Well done to MF for putting the Dyna VT gearbox in all tractors over 200hp as they are about to pull the plug on all 8s tractors with any gearbox other than a dyna VT fitted in then , because of the fail rate on the dyna 7 & dyna7 eco box, if only they would talk to the end user they would not...
Hi, I’ve a front tank(hardi 1000ts) that I want to plumb into the rear vicon ixter, what’s the best (cheapest,as it’s not front tank ready) way?
I’ve seen holes cut and bulkhead adaptors used in the rear and simply blow it back using the pacer pump on the front tank( which I already have) is...
Anyone that is mixing their own grain what do they use for mixing. Was hoping to get a mixer bucket for the tractor loader so can mix small batches and fill 800 advantage feeders. Got a quote for one, scary number so was wondering what anyone else is using to mix own grain. Thanks
Hi, All!
First post so forgive me if I’ve got it in the wrong area.
So looking at an 8240 in Australia to put on a mixer wagon. Yes I know a lot don’t like the Funk transmission but there are quite a few over here on flat ground (Australia really isn’t hilly at all!) going ok. I have friend...
I've got some high yielding, special cows arriving with me at the end of this week, once here they will be housed day and night for now, I also have some heifers from woodmarsh to calve next spring who were also high yielding.
I am contemplating keeping them in ayr next year and was just...
Bought-in feed prices are soaring and this coupled with variable maize yields up and down the country, means that the value of forage in the clamp is going to be higher than ever. That applies to maize just as much as grass silage and it is vital to take steps to preserve its quality and reduce...
What do folks use to fatten cattle?
currently on home grown barley milled up with protein and molasses added. It works but it’s not cheap.
what does everyone else use?
KW Alternative seeds? Is there other similar companies out there selling such stuff?
or something else entirely?
cheers.
Now I know the traditional way is in tanks - which is fine until the material starts solidifying … and if you can get one handy - but has anyone tried storing liquids in a shallow purpose built lagoon from which you could bucket it out?

Quicke has introduced three new buckets to its Silocut range which come with a variety of options to ensure they match the requirements of the user.
The new range are available for purchase since the beginning of September 2022 in three different sizes...
How do people treat/store on farm barley with home and dry?
Does treated grain go off? How quick does it need to be used by?
What moisture content does the barley need to be at prior to treatment?
Looking at buying this Kuhn 1860 mixer wagon on the cheap. The blades look just a tad worn and in the wrong place, am I right? Who can show me a picture of what they should be like please?
Just trying to work out rationing for this winter there will be a bit of a gap between the highest and lowest producers and we’ve only got batch feeders. At very least to start with we really don’t want two groups potentially be forced into it as winter progresses but would like to run as one...
We seem to go through ups on the mixer wagon way more often than we should. I tend to mix it at about 350rpm but it’s been suggested that this could be putting more strain on and we need to rev to 540rpm which seems rather excessive to me.
would running lower revs add more strain?

Kuhn is planning to add a third series of trailed mixers to the two ranges it already offers, as well as its fully automated machine.
The new machines fill the gap between its Profile S and L range of trailed mixer wagons with this new Profile M series...
