Morning all,
Having a hell of a job removing a knackered (rear auger) gearbox from a kuhn mixer wagon. I can't see whats holding it in, except rust around the turret? Has anyone else had the same issue, how was it beaten? Might put 4 long bolts back in at opposite corners and try beat it down...
I'm coming from a place of zero experience with this so I'm hoping some people on here with experience can help:
I'm planning on upgrading my feeding method to use a diet feeder. The only problem is that most of my loader work is done with an old JCB 3cx or a NH 7740 with front loader, so I...
Have had a quote for a John Deere 6130 M and a valtra N134
Both have loaders, the valtra has come in a few thousand more than the JD, I would say the valtra is a higher is spec than the JD but not a lot on it...tyre sizes are the same on both machines.
We have never had any other make but JD and...
As above, perhaps could do with a weigher on it as that is what we are used to.
Looking to swap our old Hi Spec diet feeder used for fat cattle and suckler cows.
3t capacity max as feeding different groups. How well do they mix if at all when adding concentrate?
Could put a weigher on Jcb...
Currently buying all kinds of cattle from the market. Currently feeding a 16% protein nut with straw and silage. What are other people feeding this kind of cattle? Im not interested in mixer wagons and that kind of stuff because I don’t have one. I’m taking about a feed that can be blown into a...
Hi everyone
I’m currently feeding my cows 14.5kg good Haylage, 5.5kg straw and minerals for their maintenance diet, I’ll start adding oats and protein as we near calving. My question is has anyone grown wholecrop oats as a complete feed for sucklers? I was thinking that if I left cutting it...
Normally get offered stock feed potatoes in May, we take them and mix with silage and clamp them which has worked well the last couple years. I am contemplating keeping back my tail end of yearling stores to graze and hang up in October/November. I’d prefer to feed them tatties near enough all...
I’m thinking of taking our forage harvesting back in-house again after some difficulty getting our contractor on time, I have the staff and most of the kit.
I’m looking at buying a used forager but want a long chop length as our milk buyer is a cheese manufacturer and I am paid on milk solids...
Speak for yourself Charlie... after mucking out 2000 pigs, changing a set of SP sprayer wheels, shoveling wheat and unblocking a particularly stubborn ditch pipe (tree roots) my shoulder is giving me a bit of jip.
Aye-up,
Right then, time to make a start.
Had the chassis cab delivered on Monday and have been faffing about with paperwork for first registration and MoT exemption. Got all that away and had a bit of a go up the lane with it. Bit of a niggle, it won’t change into low range on the transfer...
Link to a Finacial Times article about the government plans for subs over the next few years 😢 Apparently they have been leaked the speech George Eustice is going to give on Monday

Just for when the thread is posted for next year asking if they're doable, yes is the answer! No holes in mine except when I reversed into a bale with the telehandler 🤦♂️
Our 09 manitou MLT627 has 7500 hours on and we're ready for a change. General duties on a mixed beef finishing and arable farm. We don't need a bigger machine but we are being pushed by dealers to 3 tonne trucks? JCB 532-60, Manitou 630 and Merlo TF33.7 115 are the ones I've looked at so far...
