Setting in from the headlands with 24m sprayer and switching on the booms the flow rate on the Rds takes 15 yards to come up to target rate of 150 Litres a hectare flow rate. I've put up with this since the first pre em and as a result the blackgrass is showing for the first ten yards inside the...
Friend of mine has asked what's happening to his spring beans. The photo above shows the start of what seems to kill the bean. It is affecting the whole field. His first taught was spray drift from a neighbour. But agronomist says that whole field would not be affected. As it's a funny shape...
I'm in my fifth year of strip tilling following a more traditional plough/power harrow based system. I had some decent results in the first few years but the last two wet autumn /winters have not been so great.
My main problem is the blackgrass is getting out of hand, I don't think my...
I know there’s another general BG thread but this is just a particular question about chemicals.
Basically what are your ‘chemical’ approaches to BG. We aren’t doing a proper job so looking for ideas please.
I'm in a bit of a situation in that I've 18,000 veg plants, growing like crazy & its too wet to plough, till & plant.
What would happen if I planted them by hand now into last years cereal stubble?
Been given a recommendation for week control in spring barley.
75g/ ha counter sx

Seems a heavy dose to me.....just the usual suspects to deal with and not too big atvthr moment. Advice needed. Thanks
Up until now we have not had a problem with black grass. But one field seems to have got away on us. It’s first wheat after osr and would expect it yield about 10t/ha. There is not enough grass to effect the yield but too much to pull by hand. The area is about 12ac which would be about 4% of...
Bought another sprayer and considering adding auto boom height control. Boom is only 28m so not massive width. A lot of fields I spray are undulating to say the least. Not many flat.
Do you think it's worth paying the extra for it? A arag unit would work with sprayers existing control unit...
Spraying cereals, currently on red (04) flat fans. Wanting to reduce water volume to around 145-150, at 11k that would mean 2 bar or just over. Should that be ok or is it too low for some things - ie get a set of blue nozzles instead?
New EAMU for Basilico provides opportunity for linseed
Controlling weeds in winter and spring linseed will now be much easier with the approval of an Extension of Authorisation for Minor Use (EAMU) registration for the maize herbicide Basilico.

I'm on the lookout for an MF 30 drill or similar to go behind an International 574. This autumn I'm taking on some farm land alongside my day job in agriculture and need something to plant wheat and other cereals.
Must be disc coulter.
Optional: markers, tramliner, end tow (unless 4m then...
We have had a relatively high number of ewes not opening up this year or certainly more than usual! Would this be down to a deficiency? All of them were multi-Vit drenched pre lambing as usual.
I took my new low loader and excavator on a trip today which was within, but close, to the legal limit.
I found that the weight didn’t boss the tractor, but the performance on hills was dreadful. I haven’t done much heavy hauling with it, but couldn’t believe how gutless it was, down to 12k on...
Hello
I’ve started this year brix testing and I’m trying to analyse my results I took yesterday. I sampled first thing in the morning (7.30 am) . As understand a result above 12 is good I was getting results between 10-20 depending on the variety mainly the results were 16-20 is this...
What are most using these days? Used to be sub 100lit/ha and flat fans but thinking of buying some new nozzles and wondered what others were at. And no don’t get excited won’t be going for quite a while!
