As a distraction to the soggy non existent spring drilling programme, I'm looking ahead to the autumn and want to reduce my spring cropping area, currently about 1/3 of the farm thanks to blackgrass. Winter barley for feed isn't really any good for blackgrass control in terms of herbicide...
The Soil Framework Directive has now been extended. Whereas a licence was needed to move soil from one site to another, which was first established in 2009 in Safeguarding our soils: A strategy for England., this now includes removing soil for testing. If you collect soil for nitrogen...
Below, we will be providing updates on the development of our soil sampling protocols and provide materials to aid our Root Rangers in collecting and packaging the samples correctly. Make sure to add your comments on which soil samples you feel are most valuable for added knowledge. We would...
Going off the back of the recent news from Defra and reading the current thread about it it would be interesting to see exactly how much land people where actually considering taking out of production.

Hello. Anyone used this service with a good result. Every time I speak to them I get different responses and seem sceptical they would be able to advise anything useful.
It's supposed to be funded but speaking to a sac advisor he said it will cost more than the funded element therefore I will...
Did I hear right!!!? Millions coming our way to improve our IT etc so that we have less reliance on foreign workers? and better outlets for food we can't sell? Apart from installing robots, I can't see, on the face of it, what impact this would have on the dairy industry. What about other sectors?
As a contractor, I am increasingly getting requests for data , mainly yield maps by agronomy firms. I also have a friend who does a lot of soil sampling and he is finding the same. He, having already given his customers maps and spreading plans over the years is being asked to do all the legwork...

Got most of the farm sampled recently, pH, indicies and Organic matter. Makes quite interesting reading, P and K indicies are generally 3-4, couple of low K values, around 2, in fields cut twice last year which is expected. Most interesting though is the soil OM. A range between 5.1% and 12.4%...
Does anyone here have one or used one?

Interested...

Is there any SFI options that would be better than this? I am waiting for a call back...
