Hello
I am looking into utilising livestock, to help an arable farm manage its blackgrass. I would like to know what crops people have worked with, found useful, or any advice/tips. It is fairly heavy clay.
What I came up with as possibilities-
grass/clover ley
spring barley/oats
maize...
Put grass seeds in about 3 weeks ago, they are up and away. Sprayed with roundup first, should I be spraying for docks again now or wait until Spring. I can see the little buggers there starting to grow. Our two Spring reseeds were not sprayed at all, tried to be clever, it didn't work, now...

I didn't want to hijack the current thread on a similoiar topic.
I am going to have 10-12ha of S Oat stubble that is earmarked for Bumblebird mix next Spring. (Not CS or SFI) In the past I have been very happy to drill some of the "spring sown) mix in the Autumn and have an early start on some...

We do livestock transport to a number of markets and abattoirs around the south and east and occasionally to the Scottish Borders, Longtown and Carlisle.
Most markets and abattoirs charge nominal amount for washing or are on a token system and some are still free. For a lorry and drag the...
We live next to 11 wind Turbines on 2 sites next to each other and for the last week all 11 have been stopped, whats the point of building more turbines when the one we have are not turning, not lack of wind either been enough wind every day, did think that they might have a quota each month but...
I'm trying to work out budget costs for this SFI option. OK with OSR but not sure how to approach it for cereals. I don't have dual hopper so though perhaps broadcasting small seed off the back of the drill then knock out when it starts to compete?
Silage field was sprayed this past with with forefront, been assured it’s safe to cut it won’t forefront as the much from the resulting silage will only ever be used back on grassland. But what I was wondering how long after spraying is it safe to cut it ?
...has given you 100% control?
There are plenty of dirty fields out there, but also some very clean ones. Is that cultural as well as chemical?
Interested to know others chemical inputs.
