Heres a few photos of some workshop jobs i did this year that i remembered to take photos of. Should have posted them at the time but forgot. Our homemade grain pusher has always been used with pallet forks but as the farms grown it gets used more and more the pallets forks were becoming a...
Trials highlight role of Polysulphate in enabling reduced nitrogen rates in milling wheat
Work by Agrii suggests growers should not fear nitrogen limits in meeting grain protein targets.
Decades of conventional wisdom about how to fertilise milling wheat for yield and grain protein is set to be...
Been a few threads fairly recently about dipping, this is me after a bit of advice..,
Would it be cost effective to have our own dip tank and the relevant courses / permits etc and then be able to do our own sheep ?
Few numbers:- 600 breeding ewes. Own replacements kept , and some (100 odd)...
What are people feeding their fattening ewes?
I was at the auction the other day and ewes weren’t dear. Got me thinking about in the future maybe having a go fattening a few. I was thinking indoors on ad-lib. But what systems are people using and feeding?

We’ve bought N24 7SO3 for £525/t earlier on in the season. I’m fully aware that it’s not the best value p/kg N but it suits our system. If we were to move away from this strength but stay liquid what is the best value around please?
I've used it for 2yrs previous. This year the ewes were broken. Nearly all of them lame in numerous feet and thoroughly unhappy. Now a week on, and several still slightly lame. Crazy strong stuff.

looks like FB on OSR, but is infact minute slugs. Had three doses of miniXX, doesn't seem to have done anything. Pellets still there, slugs not interested. any way of stopping them?
Like many of you I suspect for years I have been applying sulphate with my spring top dressing of fert. According to my soil analysis I am not short of sulphur but have been repeatedly told that doesn't affect the need for sulphate because the elemental sulphur is unavailable to the plants...
Not moving any soil this autumn so what’s best for OSR volunteers, cereal volunteers, the odd but of creeping thistle and a smattering of BLW, fat hen, black bindweed etc.
Kyleo or straight glypho? Wetters/enhancers?
Does kyleo bring anything to the party that just slinging some 24d in with...
Who (if anyone) is still doing this in the UK ? I looked at it in some detail a few years ago and it made absolute sense (and that was when N was cheap !). logistically it was a nightmare however
Who are the experts on this to speak with ? It should be a no brainer at current N price...
Is anyone having trouble getting Tracesure 3 in 1 Ewe and Lamb boluses? Ordered nearly 2 weeks ago, plenty phone calls and they still don't have them. Cant get locally but online was much cheaper too.
