I've just been reading the latest Farmers Weekly Magazine and saw the article 'Farm accidents claim four lives in three weeks' which I found quite shocking. I there a way to make farming safer? Or do you just accept the risks? I'd be interested in peoples thoughts....
Who’s done this?
We love the extra output 36m offered over 24m and less wheelings etc.
But the negatives - trailed machine:
1. uneven liquid fert application as it takes longer to get the required rate out of the booms due to the extra length and size of the pipe work (400l pump) so all our...
This industry has a tragic safety record, what can we all do that may improve this ?
lets use this thread for suggestions ? some maybe unpopular with others (I know mine will be !) but surely we can’t continue watching so many loose their life’s trying to produce a bit of food
my top 3...
Can anyone point me in the direction of an operator’s manual for my recently acquired Chafer T2000 trailed sprayer?
It’s from 1993 but has been really well looked after. I’d like to try to keep it in the same nick.
I’m also trying to figure out the most appropriate size of row crop...
To pull a 4000 litre trailed sprayer (32m boom) as its main job (liquid fert as well) mostly flat land no root crops. It’ll also cart corn with 15t trailers, roll with 12m rolls and run a 4m combi drill on rare occasions.
Edit - it’ll need a big oil pump as the sprayer runs off the free flow...
We’ve been using a trailed 36m sprayer running on 650’s all year round (tractor also on 650’s). We are thinking of selling the sprayer as it’s now 10 years old. Looking around newish trailed machines have shot up in price making decent used SP’s look attractive again but they all seem to be 24m...

I currently have a tracking drawbar trailed sprayer which I use on my mainline tractor. Am I mad wanting to swap the sprayer for a secondhand self propelled. My cropping is mainly cereals and beans occasionally osr. Apart from harvest help I do mainly everything myself with the tractor apart...
as the above, I am choosing among the above mentioned. Horsh sure has very stable booms, But it is 10 percent ahead of almost full spec Amazone ux. Haven't received Ixtrac price yet, but hoping it will cost the least.
I also have kv spreader with isobus control unit and section control...
What size narrow wheels are people using on 4000l 28m trailed sprayers? There for a Knight eua if anyone has some? I would run on the 710s it’s on all year but I can’t see some of the people we spray liking that idea. We have the narrow wheels for the tractor already.
I'm looking at changing to a trailed sprayer. Because everyone says how easy they are to drop on and off I would like to be able to use the tractor for other jobs. Mainly carting. Without changing wheels.
At the moment I've.a 2170 fastrac with a demount on it. This just stays on it, from may...

I hope you don't mind indulging this non-farmer but I'm very curious about the typical size and power of tractors - plus the size of implements - you use vs. the size of fields/farm that you're working on? I've been reading through a lot of machinery threads and trying to collate the...
