Arable novice here.
What are the benefits of growing triticale in an arable rotation?
Is it a breakcrop with wheat?
How cheap is it to grow, and what yield would you expect from land that would normally do 3.5 tonne per acre wheat?
Presumably combined, and the straw is of use too?
Many thanks
Question For @Nielo I expect but anyone who knows

He obviously got out of the bed the wrong side (as my Mum would say).
My Reply:
I wish to reply to David Buttle in last week’s edition.
As a cereal grower I home-save and also buy-in seed. Almost without exception the home saved is better quality, mainly due to fact that it has been over a...
When should such a mix be drilled?

When he rolled up here about 3 weeks ago, turned out it wasn’t. Ordered and still hasn’t rolled up, spray to burn the...
Hi
Someone's made a boo, boo and used the wrong percentages in a mix (not me I hasten to add) and it could be to your advantage.

2.7% Golden Eye Kale
1.8% Spitfire
12.6% Linseed
3.6% Gold of Pleasure

A local dairy farm has asked us if we’d think about growing some whole crop rye and forage maize for their dairy herd which they want to expand but don’t have the land to provide the forage needed. So what could we expect yield wise (realistic please say 6 yr average) if built into an arable...
