Hi .
Anybody had experience with a tree shear on a excavator of loadall ,
They look a good tool , much safer quicker than a chainsaw ??
Thanks

Yes have been looking at the TMK on the Internet and looks a very good tool . I've never liked using a chainsaw so it looks very appealing !

Depends what sort of work you're doing I reckon. If mostly tree limbs, then a non grabbing shear with rotator would be the most productive, although the cut bits do drop in the ground so thats more work to shift them to piles, or lines for pushing up. If its hedgerow work mainly with just the odd field tree limb to cut then a crab claw type is the best bet.

Our man bought one last year. Incredible thing. Can't see us going back to a chainsaw ever again.

Not sure on his make but his has Rams either side so that you can tilt it but he does have he tilt head on the digger as well

Does anyone make a machine that's a cross between the Exac-One and the claw type? IE one that can be rotated for tree boughing but still grabs the cut branches?

I think the weight would be too much for the rotator, not only as the claw type of shears tend to be heavier than the single cut type, but because it then has to take the strain of the branch you've cut off. That's some serious leverage stress when you have a big branch held by the very end.

Any idea what make it is? Also I have a 5 tonne 360 would it be up for the job? Obviously not going to handle massive stuff but say 7" - 8" trunks?

We run a TMK on an 8 tonne machine. It's got a second pair if pins on the bracket at 90 degrees to the others so we can set it up for vertical cuts if we need to. Not too much of a fiddle to swap it for the odd time we need to, but much cheaper and lighter than a rotator. Brilliant machine for coppicing leggy hedges on banks.
