Looking for a yard run about and back up tractor to my two main machines. Would probably only do around 200-300hrs a year. Seen a couple of early 714/716s ranging from 8k-12k hours. Would I be mad? No dealer for over 3hrs is my biggest worry. Are the non TMS machines that bad?

Nothing wrong with the non tms, just not as good to drive, depends what your used too, looked after 8-12 k hours is low, owner driver is always nice if you can find them, these tractors are becoming hard to find and are future classics .

I have an 04 716, bought with a heap of hours and it’s now on 19000. It did have some work on the gearbox before I had it. Biggest cost I’ve had is some work on the engine, had a sticky exhaust valve so we had a tidy up while it was apart, that would be 3 years ago now. The fuel system can be temperamental which is the rubber hose deteriorating so we have been gradually replacing some. The electrics are generally good. Have also done some work on the hydraulics but not a lot of money. I expect a few bills with this many hours.

I would buy another, this one feeds the cows every day not hard work but still the best part of 1000 hours a year.

Thats one thing imo that fendt have got right, the electrics are superior than any other brand.

Sorry if I’m off topic here.

It’ll probably blow up after I say this but I absolutely love our Fendt. Only a 516 and have clocked up 1500 hrs in the 2 yrs from new but it’s a joy to use. Everything is so well thought out.
Even little things that shouldn’t cost any manufacturer much such as marked graduations on the linkage drop arms and the end of the pto shaft being machined in such a way that it lines up when you push the pto shaft of the implement against it.
Haven’t even had a lightbulb fail yet.

The comfort and apparent build quality are very impressive. It’s a loader tractor but pulls a 5f reversible with press, 18 tonne trailers etc.
The garage serviced it and commented how clean the exhaust system was, the result lots of plenty of hard engine work.

As a owner driven machine, I’d hope that it’ll hold its value well. We usually sell before 10k hours.
We had a 6430p from new before this and a Deere 6400 from new before that, both very good tractors but this is a serious step up.

Fendt is always a few steps ahead of the competition

I had a look at it last week when I went to pick up some parts. It didnt look any tidier than my 8000hr 818 so I didnt feel the price was justified. Dont get me wrong its a tidy tractor but for that money I would want a minter.
They don't seam to shift some of their top end second hand gear very fast the loader tractor advertisement has been there for years, I know they shift a lot of new gear, a German chap clears out a lot of the high hour trade backs. Expect the tractor is worth fair packet, new price would be double I guess?
