In Wales there is a programme called Cefn Gwlad in which basically Dai Jones (Welsh farming celebrity) visits farms in Wales and tours their farm and family like @Penmoel.

This format could be adopted and TFF members could give the tour of their place with crop and livestock interest.

I'm sure there are lots of fascinating farmers on here.

Problem is the cost of filming and time taken.:scratchhead:

I regularily watch the welsh channels on sheep dog trials and some of the farm visits etc. Doesnt bother me that i cant understand a word that is said.. i know the expression of ' dont go right through the fudging middle of them you stupid dog!'

There was a photo of the Countryfile team that used to get my blood pressure up. They were gathered around an open gate leading into a field, Matt was sat on top of the gate, but at the catch end not the hinge end. I think if I had been caught doing that as a kid I would have been given a very sore bottom !

It's the BBC, they have absolutely no idea :D

Just looked it up, calling Matt a farmers child is stretching things. HIs parents had a small holding and bought a farm when he was 10. Reading his bio, he hasn't really had anything to do with farming or the countryside.

He's a good lad who listens & learns. He must have learned a lot over the years because when he came here to do a slot on grey partridge for CF he knew what he was talking about. A consummate professional too.

His lack of natural balance and the naked fear on his face was hilarious with the canoe. Wish they would repeat the early ones. I have seen the one with the cow on the halter take off a few times, fair do's, he does not let go for a while!

Dai Jones used to do a lot of slapstick humour in the old 'Cefn Gwlad' programs, not sure if he was putting it on or if he really was that ham fisted!
He did one episode on a friend of mine and his family a couple of years ago, he said nothing was scripted, he'd just start asking about stuff and you were away, reckoned he swore like a fudging trooper off camera! Oh and I got a mention in that one, or at least a bull I'd sold him did :)

Monday nights we get Cefn Gwlad and then Ffermio, covering farming news, any shows or events and bits and bobs from families or business who've done something innivotive or new.
There's also very good coverage on S4C from the RWAS and the Winter Fair, and a program that covers smaller shows and events.
Oh and does anyone else remember this?

The S4C coverage of the Winter Fair and the Royal Welsh is brilliant, but as I'm not a Welsh speaker it gets a tad frustrating at times. There are subtitles - but generally you're watching two fellas talking very animatedly in Welsh next to a class of cattle being judged, and obviously cracking a few jokes, and eventually the subtitle comes up saying something like 'Mr Emrys Jones has a nice heifer in this class.'. :scratchhead:
