07 Focus diesel with 120,000 miles

I changing my driving as I am buying this car , it will do the same job as spending many thousands on something silly
I intend servicing it every 5000 miles . Also I know someone who worked at the local main Ford main agent for many years before it changed into Aldi so needing to know anything technical will not be a problem. Any welding repairs can be tacked. One thing I can't decide is breakdown recovery service . The first question I asked is has it been filled at Tesco the answer was sometimes so this could be a problem . I intend fitting dashcam
That's about it other than smarmy comments by certain members on this site I won't mention names because there is no need will be completely ignored

Check when the timing belt was last done and if longer than 50k miles or five years ago, get it done again along with tensioner and water pump while you are at it. Otherwise I'm sure you have done your due diligence and know its condition and most of its history, so with a bit of luck it will provide up to another 100k miles at a very low cost indeed.
Get the breakdown cover with 'get you home' if you travel any great distance form base.

Bear in mind that unless a lot of time is spent fettling, cars are not going to last forever. Don't expect it to last to 20 years without using a cutting disc and welder now and then to get it through the MOT, and brake lines and most other minor and possibly some major components will need changing as it ages further as well.

I did something similar last year, an 08 Passat estate with 165k miles for £800, it needed a front caliper and a thermostat. I have put 25k on it since and got 32p a mile for most of those miles. I also did the timing belt and water pump after I bought it. The only unscheduled repairs was a clutch and flywheel.
go ahead and do it, my plan was if I got 6 months out of it and had to scrap it then I would be ok.

Yes, might as well change the thermostat while doing the belt and pump. If none of this has been done for years, the change of coolant will be no bad thing either. But that's it. None of the above mounts to much in terms of parts cost and the extra time taken above that of changing the timing belt is next to nothing either.

If you have doubts contact the police
That's a bit drastic on a slight suspicion. Find out if they have the registration documents and have a good look at them. A car without registration docs is one to walk away from fast. Check its MOT history as well, which is readily available on-line through the DVLA just by entering the registration number.

Id assumed mr handle had done all the relevant checks which was why he'd gotten suspicious
