yeah, here we call that a Prado, not a “real” Landcruiser, even IF it does have Landcruiser in tiny letters on the badge, above Prado in big letters. No one calls them a ‘Cruiser . . .
It’s only the 200 Series wagon we call a Landcruiser

I wouldn’t have thought a Prado heavy duty enough to live up to the Landcruiser name

A bit like calling an Evoque a “real” Range Rover ?

although, I’d have a Prado over an Evoque ANY day of the week, for MY driving

You want something that will tow 3.5 tonne all day & not notice it, carry a load & 4 passengers as well, all on a car licence ?
I don’t understand why these aren’t more popular ?
No one here would seriously consider a Hilux / DMax / Ranger style vehicle if they were primarily looking for a tow vehicle to regularly pull 3.5 t. I certainly wouldn’t

I think the airbags & systems in a Kenworth are slightly different to a Disco or RR ?
Not by as much as you may think., trucks will have ,ride height adjustment, and anti roll systems fitted...Generally more trouble free than steel(less bushe changes, and broken springs) Hasle usually comes from stuck valve etc.

To be of any use here they need a operator licence and tachogragh and all the hasle that goes with that.
Otherwise they carry less than a Pickup and are mostly 2 wheel drive.
If they'd carry and Tow a decent amount I'd have on in a flash.

A Basic Air bag Suspension as found on Commercial trailers would be transform the ride on most pickups , without being overly complicated. Just a compessor, tank, and height adjuster valve.
Leave the front suspension as steel springs.

thats the thing, the small trucks, up to a certain size ( I can’t remember exactly how big, but maybe a 2 tonne payload ? ) have no restrictions and are able to be driven in a car licence - that’s what makes them such a good option

Here a double cab transit can carry perhaps 1/2 ton.

that wouldn’t be much use for anything ?
What’s the max size vehicle you can drive on a basic car licence ?
I can’t believe you need special licensing / log books / tachographs etc etc for a 2 tonne light truck, but none of that for a 300 hp tractor pulling how many tonnes at speed on a public road ????

it’s madness . . .

Probably can, but your into full truck reg. then, so most people just get a full size wagon if they have to go down that route.
Its also the reason for so many tractors pulling livestock floats.?

O licence territory for commercial gain (inc farming)

Don't forget dual purpose vehicles towing 3500kg trailer only for certain maximum distances for livestock before you get in to tacho, O licence, driver CPC
And certain milage limitations, without Tacho( 100 mile radius of base i think) ,not sure but i think it applies to commercial use also.
Vosa where pulling , Pickup and Trailer combiations Taking show animals to the Royal welsh Last year.

What's the difference ?

Scale the system down to Pickup size and fit it to the rear with one height sensor and tank and engine / electric compressor - EXACTLY the same as an HGV.
It just isn't. You can wish it to be something it's not all you like but it will not make it so.
We are/were talking about the payload of the LR range of vehicles, so as not to confuse people who haven't read through it all or have goldfish memories.
