100,000 pigs to be destroyed

thats part of problem now......asf in germany leading to a chinese ban in 2020

surely slaughtering sows is just exacerbating the problem at the moment :scratchhead:

What we should do now that we are out of Europe is ban pigmeat imports from Germany- just as China has done- owing to the risk of imported product carrying ASF.
But no, our government is too pathetic to do that. We haven't even implemented the border checks that happen going the other way.

Lot of cull sows if not majority go to southern firm, who then export to Germany etc for bockverst and other pork products.
My neighbour said he has been ending up with £8 a cull sow after stoppages. This was before the current crisis and was Brexit related as they go to Germany to be processed
Think of it been like cull ewes into kebabs.

The truth always comes out in the end , brexit line was bull sh!t .
That's depends how you look of at it
. If the pigs are produced on contract, they have an end user to go to, you would think producing more would be a good thing, jobs a good'un because you already have a sale. So you produce a pig to supply that market, and then it can not be moved on because their is no one to haul it, slaughter, butcher it and pack it, and not the essential kit, CO2 to help with this. The worse thing is unlike potatoes that turned back because they are out of spec, they are still eating and shitting, they can not be heaped in a field until they can be moved on
So Brexit has nothing to do with the increase in a the gas price, but we are not longer part of a union that supports each member, so they have no vested interest to help UK PLC, and they have their own pork production plants to supply. We also have very little gas storage, so can not wait till the price goes down, most EU members have a lot more. We are just now one very small island negotiating, who just happen to get a lot of gas off shore,
How long can energy companies afford to sell gas for less than what they paid for it?
They kept telling not to panic, it will be alright on the night, but its not, and what ever caused this mess, needing sorting not platitudes. The CO2 users have agreed to pay more for the gas, which will make our pork more expensive, and anything else that's wrapped with CO2, plus the extra cost of labour, and haulage. Oh, and the diesel l price has gone up, if you can get a driver to haul it.
I can not see how the pig producer who increased their output could have factored in this, when even our government couldn't even think about plan B.

If they were on contract they should have made sure they had enough workers to process the contract
