It would help if the British armed forces used British meat. Some one I know daughter is in a catering course and had the army in to show them their ration packs etc. Surprised to see the chicken in those packs was from Brazil

Hmmmmmm.
Can't recall the last time I went into a supermarket and didn't see end of aisle shelves full of half price cheap gammon joints and meat fridges bursting with cheap to clear pork products.

Ive a friend who has this idea that the powers that be created coronavirus, then laced the vaccines with something they will start getting rid of people in their 70's rather than living any longer. The muslim fraternity won't take the vaccines for religious reasons and they don't eat pork hence why the government are letting the pig industry go to ruin because in the long term this country will be muslim.

Perhaps after all this travesty has been overcome there can be an a review of pig contracts. Currently the ‘business’ is in the hands of a few large processors, I doubt the processors profits will suffer only in so far as if they could have slaughter more pigs profits would have been higher.

The dairy industry has had similar problems in the past with capacity. This has been solved, to a degree, by farmers taking the initiative and investing in modern low labour facilities. Denmark invested many years ago in a large low labour factory to slaughter pigs.
It is not a sweet pill to swallow but livestock production is high risk at extremely low margins. Pig producers have always been encouraged to increase output to survive. Some of us threw in our chips, as did many others, as we realised the futility of the modern market.
