Folks disconnection between their food and farming is proving to be a gold mine for supermarkets they just tell them any old
Twoddle !! It’s as dangerous as anything for us farmers ! The shyt they are teaching the children at schools now about farming countryside is unbelievable it won’t end well for either side. I don’t know what the answer is but a start has to be stop these teachers teaching the children lies in schools .

Yes it's worse than probably ever before. Still don't think the solution will come from government, unfortunately.

It will come from another few hundred farmers culling their sow herd out, whether it's their decision or the banks.

Once there is a shortage across europe, miraculously the processors will find some more butchers....

I totally agree. If we are lucky Justin Elliot will shut down Berrow farm on the Archers - he was on about it yesterday, at least the Archers writers have got the idea.

I see BQP are still advertising for more rearing space though, although now they seem to be trying to tempt farmers to convert old cow sheds and potato stores etc, rather than put up new builds.

They'll take a year or two of losses if it means a few more independents pack up? And I was told the other day that their abattoirs seem to be coping much better with slaughtering and butchering their own pigs than they are with slaughtering and butchering for the independent producers?! Could just be scurrilous rumour though!

Maybe a reflection of the high costs of building materials currently
