i did this last year

plan to do it again this year
3318 ( that represents how many people died from suicide in Australia in 2019 ) pushups over 25 days during June
The number of pushups varies each day according to mental health statistics eg one day might be 150, which represents 15% of population on anti depressant medication, or something like that,
but the total all adds up to 3318 pushups

I love press up too, and 100 a day is doable and beneficial...watch your rotator cuffs though....buggered my left one through too many press ups (between 50 - 100 every other day)

This has been very tricky. Not in terms of the actual exercise, but fitting them in. My child laughed when I managed 8. But I can now do blocks of twelve. But even then, often find time has rushed by and I've only done sixty. More than anything, it just shows how the day can fill up with tasks so you can't even find time to look after yourself properly.

I’m doing the push up challenge ( posted above ) again this year.
An average of 130 / day ( some days over 200 ). I found it relatively easy to fit in blocks of 20 through the day. Do some before you get dressed in the morn. Do some while waiting for the kettle to boil or porridge to cook before breakfast. Do some at lunch. Do some before having a shower at night. Do some before going to bed . . .
If you find an amount you are comfortable with doing in one “block”, it’s amazing where & when you can slot them in.
Just remember, if you can’t do a full length push up on your toes, it is perfectly acceptable to do them on your knees, to build up strength & correct technique

Day 8 / June 8

209 men every month: Of the 3,318 push-ups this year, 2,502 of them represent men who died by suicide in Australia in 2019. That’s over 75% of the total, and is equal to about 209 men every month. Women experience mental health issues at higher rates than men, and report higher rates of suicidality. However, men are less likely to seek help for mental illness, and are 3x more likely to die by suicide.

Some spaces within our communities exist especially to support the mental health of the men in our lives, like the Men’s Shed. Men’s Sheds provide open workspaces where men can socialise, work, or help out their communities.

If you or a male you know needs to talk to someone about mental health, Mensline is a national service for men providing referrals, counselling and support. Call 1300 78 99 78 (24 hours a day).

Yes, I mean I used to go to the gym until I did my back in a couple of years ago. That was mostly rowing and weights. So yes, first actual run in 25 years.

I'm doing to same stretch, mainly as it avoids going past anyone, every other night, then will try getting to the next corner and back, which makes two miles. Then the next corner makes it two and a half. That's the aim for the end of September.

The wife is a runner, she goes to the competition’s and so forth. I’ve been trying to run with her but can’t seem to get away with it. I can’t keep up and she has to keep stopping for me. She started with the couch to 2k I think it’s called. I’ve never been as it’s on too early in the evening for me to go but I think they run a bit then walk a bit to gradually build up. It seems like it’s patience that’s needed.
