Hi, we are a sheep and beef hill farm, looking for a second hand 100hp loader tractor, we do about 400hours a year, mostly loader work in yard, but do take round bales out to sheep, some hilly land, light machinery work, single rotor rake, Tedder etc, what would be a good buy?

Do u have any brand preference or have a local mechanic that works at certain brands? Id say for a plain good stockman tractor a nh t5060 or a mf 5455 speedshift

We are always on the lookout for this sort of gear
Probably the dearest things to be looking for
Bigger and smaller cheaper

Our current loader is a 6320se and main tractor is T6 155, both good dear ships to work with, but have seen a 5610mf for sale, wondering if will be heavy enough

If you are doing serious amounts of feeding up lighter models with light arse ends and light running gear will cause you a time handicap

Itl be plenty heavy. Do u run a rear weight? U can always fill back tyres with water for extra weight. A bigger tractor on loader will be more awkward around the yard
Most of the time my loader tractors have double bale spikes on them. You don’t always want tyres ballasted and two heavy bales on. Or ballasted tyres and a ten tonne spreader on. Easier to have something heavy ish to start with. All of them stockman range things are too light unless they never leave concrete which isn’t the case for me or here

We had a late 7740 sle and have to say it would tick the boxes well. Nearly as good as the ts115 that replaced it for a ale on the loader and 2 on the back. Managed a bale bale without a rear weight.

Depends on how much cost to fix. I will say the 7740 has the weight to be stable ours stacked and drew about 1000 bales a year with 500 being a 3mile draw to home. Turned on a 6pence and very well known mechanics not that it needed much and emmissons

It’s been repaired by the advert. Depends if it’s done right or not. If it’s right it can’t be dear as a loader is a hod few thousand now but going back into history M reg

Ours was 1996/7.last year of them. Wouldn't rule out an early but was told the last had the back end of a 8340 so heavier

Just thought I would through it in the ring as some newer loader tractors in tha hp bracket are smaller and lighter unless you go up a range then can get cumbersome. Most by now will have done a few thousand hrs of any brand. So all that u look at will need same inspection of axle etc or suspension if fitted.

I just prefer older well know models and prefer last of a series.

If you are looking at something older a 7740 I would prefer sl I think it would be cheaper to fix or a jd 6400 with loader would be ok for me for a yard tractor and feeding up tractor
Bought a Valtra n113 last year but it’s a bit big for what’s described
