Are there any users of the 12 metre Avatars using them in a cultivated seedbed as well as direct?

BB

no specific experience ofAvatars as such . . .

but an absolute shyt load of experience of using tynes, single discs & double discs in a wide range of conditions from full tillage / cultivation through to zero till with standing straw / lodged straw & complete ground cover . . .

there is NO reason why an Avatar, or any other single disc or “DD / zero till” planter doesn’t work just as well as any other in cultivation . . .

ALL of our vast range of planters available in our market are basically “zero till”, because that is what the standard farming systems are here, but that doesn’t mean that is all they can do . . .

a zero till planter will work in all conditions, a planter designed for full tillage will only work in full tillage . . . It’s about keeping your options open as much as anything else

my experience with disc drills single or double is that when the soil is loose and it is not dry the disc can stop rotating and bulldose (moore big disc and gd )

the best solution is only use it when dry enough

in cultivated wetter conditions if the drill goes it needs rolling for slug controll
