13 core wire

Durite do all that sort of stuff.

Dingbro are stockists in Scotland but I expect most vehicle parts stockists will carry their stuff down south.

Edit: Here's some available online: https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/978/category/186

You'll get lots of multicore "control" cables available online but often they'll be the wrong colours or all the cores will be the same colour with numbers printed on them.

What sort of cable are you looking? PVC insulation or rubber? CSA of cores? Number of stands per core?
Maybe if you list the application, we can offer more assistance.

13 core, rubber coated, interanl core of each wire. 0.5mm. Its for wiring up a trailer and fitting new lights allround. Lights will be LED so draw is low hence 0.5 is fine.

Mind sound daft but as an alternative you can run two 7 core cables in parallel if its easier to get hold of those. Or a screened 12 core and use the screen as the 13th.

If it’s for lights, then you only need 7 core, 8 if you have a reversing light. The other 5 pins wouldn’t be used.
You can also purchase a 13 pin plug, with only the 8 lighting pins fitted. This has a grommet with a smaller hole for the 8 core cable.
Personally I prefer the cable with a larger ground wire, as all the combined current from the other wires has to flow down this one.

8 core if you need a reverse light, or want to add one at a later date

If it’s a car trailer, I would be inclined not to fit an led fog light. Some manufacturers use the fog light to sense if a trailer is fitted. The vehicle will then disable the rear fog light on the car, and more importantly the parking sensors. Some also alter the vehicle stability program and the gear shifts on an automatic. For this reason, I would fit a filament lamp type fog light.

Edit, the above advice is for kits I fitted to various vw’s, last one 6 years ago. Normally Westfalia kits.
new ones may work with led lights. However, I have seen new pickups that have had wiring kits fitted by the local towbar “specialist”, using a simple bypass relay. This will work the trailer lights, but parking sensors won’t be disabled, and the rear fog light on the vehicle will reflect off your nice shiny aluminium cattle trailer, which is very distracting on a car, but may not be seen on a pickup.

extract from the westfalia instructions below.
