13 day standstill

Hi guys

I know iv asked similar in the past but can someone clarify this for me please.

Would taking a heifer and calf to mart on the 26th Sept and NOT selling her prevent me from presenting her for sale at another mart on the 9th Oct?

I calculate that as 13 days but can you not move her til day 14 if you see what I mean?

It's just the buying female sheep and cattle that poses a problem to me - or presumably bringing one unsold one home again.

I registered a field for keeping bought stock in, this allows you to sell, aslongs you put any bought livestock in this field.

Rightly or wrongly, but thankfully at this time of year bulls and tups are exempt in Scotland

Can you mix bought in sheep and bought in cattle in your isolated field?

Iv only sheep, but lmagine so, l went up to Perth and they sorted it out there and then, but not sure about now with the virus.

I think it's that close that you'd be better checking with SGRPID to be on the safe side

In England the shut down after an ‘On‘ movement is 6 clear days, so that you can use the same market.
That would be worth checking, north of the border.

I have always assumed that it is 13 clear days, and that you will only be able to move her on the 10th October at the earliest.

The irony is that we had the opportunity to have a 6 day standstill like England, but NFU Scotland concurred with a very concurrent Scottish Government to have 13 day standstill, just to be different.

Thanks, yes I agree the 10th is probably the correct date.

That seems to be the main purpose of devolution, even in places where common rules would be eminently more sensible.

Have you got a neighbour who doesn’t move at this time of the year that you could use to hold the potentially returning animals? Get t he mart to put them back there rather than to yourself, and borrow a field from them for the 13 days?
